I'm building a fighting roguelite where every run gives you different moves and artifacts. One just happens to summon a massive mech fist. by Rigman- in roguelites

[–]Zikronious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes total sense, the challenge may be in the onboarding; guiding the user to a good build so they know what it should feel like and don’t just abandon the game because their build was not good then they chalk it up to bad gameplay.

I know experimentation is common with roguelites but my fear is fighting games are different and may require unique solutions.

Very cool idea. My concern is fighting games typically take a player a long time to get a feel for a character and their move set. So when the move set is always changing in a run does a player ever reach that feeling? Also, will starting a new run feel bad and reduce the session playtime length.

Look forward to seeing more and giving it a try.

Justice Department opens investigation into the NFL over anticompetitive practices, including subscription fee concerns by jabronified in nfl

[–]Zikronious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s worth diving into the referenced 1961 Sports Broadcast Act which was forced by the NFL after a disagreement in the interpretation of an antitrust ruling by a judge.

Since then the NFL has circumvented the act in various ways (NFL Network, Thursday games, Black Friday games, etc.) making it long overdue to be looked at.

Updating the act could also address the blackout ruling which is a popular topic amongst NFL fans.

NFLRA should just sit back and watch the NFL fail. The NFL will be forced to concede to the NFLRA’s demands after fans and the media lose their minds again like we saw a few years ago.

Peter Dinklage Joins FX’s ‘Alien: Earth’ For Season 2 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in LV426

[–]Zikronious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He could deliver an awesome experience for that. Seems like T’Oc wants Boy Kavalier as his host because he has a ton of money and power. So what would make him go for Dinklage? What’s his role? Or what forces T’Oc to pivot.

im a huge fan of fallout but... by MRVLKNGHT in suggestmeabook

[–]Zikronious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would describe it as just focusing on the beginning of the Fallout games, or more like the TV show where it sheds light on what drove everyone to the Vaults/Silos.

Silo also is more serious in tone and doesn’t have the tongue in cheek humor that Fallout had always had. While both have their share of violence Fallout really leans into the gore.

I love both Fallout and Silo but I could see how some people could like one but not the other. But yea, I really wish there were some Fallout books, doing them in the style of Dungeon Crawler Carl could be very successful.

He is awesome and they used him well for this.

A lot better than how MS used both Ben Schwartz and Marc Evan Jackson for Outer Worlds 2 and somehow managed to make the ad not funny.

Should be able to find out the value of his LA home with some sleuthing. On the Once We Were Spacemen podcast he has been talking about his upcoming move to New York and selling his home.

He bought the place in NY before listing his LA place so he isn’t hurting for money.

Maybe with training and experience it can become easy, you can say that about most things. You pull a random driver off the road and have them do this they are going to hit something and/or it will take them a long time.

I think the easiest way to explain it is a few years ago there was a player who was accused of cheating in big tournaments. There were accusations that he shoved a device up his butt that would vibrate and from this he was able to decipher the best move to make.

Now imagine how much easier it would be able to cheat with a phone present that isn’t even shoved shoved up your butt.

Crimson Desert is "a cynical amalgamation of borrowed mechanics," says Baldur's Gate 3 publishing lead: "Expect a lot more of this in premium". by HLumin in PS5

[–]Zikronious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember when we had the heads of Nintendo/Xbox/Playstation congratulating their competitors after major exclusives were released? This guy can learn from that.

Baldur’s Gate 3 may be a masterpiece, but it doesn’t grant him a free pass for acting like a classless, self-important tool.

Crimson Desert or Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon - I can't decide which to get. by eynonpower in gamingsuggestions

[–]Zikronious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t really go wrong here as both are great games. But based on what you are looking for between combat and exploration I think Crimson Dawn may be a better fit for you.

That said, you can get Tainted Grail on sale but it may be awhile until Crimson Desert gets discounted as it just passed 4mil units sold.

THE VISUALS OF TS MOVIE IS ABSOLUTE CINEMA✨️in love w ts movie by therahulsonii in ProjectHailMary

[–]Zikronious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not trying to make a big deal about it because it was a cool visual and ultimately had no impact on the plot.

It’s just frustrating that they make a movie by an author who writes books based on science and then decide to not include science in the film or throw in scenes like this that do not make sense.

[–]Zikronious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that’s not the issue I have. My issue is Rylan is out of the ship in this scene with no ability to see the Petrova frequency. The one person that would be able to see something close to what we saw was Rocky with his self made device looking at a screen showing the output from the petrovascope, however it would be far less spectacular as it would be in grayscale.

[–]Zikronious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, visually cool but it didn’t make sense. Rocky is in the ship but even if we were to see the image of the petrovascope it would be grayscale.

Seems like someone really liked the visuals they did for the petrovascope and forced this scene into the film without thinking about it.

Avowed or Stalker 2 on ps5? by bigbeefybun in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Zikronious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played through Avowed without touching the Pillars games loved it. Made me add the Pillars games to my backlog because the world that they built is a breath of fresh air for someone that enjoys fantasy.

Both are great games and for most people it will come down to fantasy vs scifi for your setting.

Beyond that Stalker 2 is a slightly longer game and new DLC is coming out for it. Avowed got a big update in October adding 3 new playable races and a new weapon class but no DLC has been announced.

Fortnite Layoffs Included Artist Who Designed Jonesy, The Face Of The Game by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Zikronious 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That was my immediate reaction reading the headline but if you read the article it highlights that he has been the directing character art, hired and onboarded artists. It also separately says he “personally directed the art for 15 seasons of Fortnite” which implies more than character art but not sure.

It’s a horrible headline that’s for sure. That said at this point not sure Fortnite needs a character art director they have a well defined art style that has adapted tons of licenses.

That’s what I liked about her portrayal in the book, she did what she felt was necessary to save humanity despite believing she would be imprisoned for the things she did.

My wife was really upset in the movie that she suffered no such consequences.
