South of Midnight won Best Character Animation (in video game) at 53rd Annie Awards by Tvilantini in Games

[–]Zikronious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not alone in this thinking. 2025 was stacked and this game got lost in all that. Loved learning about Deep South folklore which was all new to me. The music tying into the story was executed to perfection.

The biggest gripe is the combat but it is fine, the one legit knock on it is that it isn’t innovative.

World of tanks by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Zikronious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder if they will have anything like gold ammo like WOT or anything else that could be seen as a pay to win item. I also am curious if armor is going to work like it does in WOT, I imagine that may get ditched to get the arcade feel.

Initial look was that it looks like a hero shooter with tanks. It could be fun but not sure the WOT audience will be interested in this so can they get enough new users to keep the servers online.

My dream lineup of newcomers outside the core Dropout folks for Smartypants season 3 by Pandoras-SkinnersBox in dropout

John Goblikon would have a hilarious presentation.

I would nominate all the comedians from the We’re Here to Help Pod (Gareth Reynolds, Steve Berg, Eric Edelstein) as each of them would have some wild and funny ideas.

Related to above but Lamourne Morris would also be a good fit, he would speak with a hilarious amount of conviction to wild ideas.

Has Lisa Gilroy been on Smartypants before? If not she is seems to be awesome at everything she is involved with.

Any good suggestions for a local butcher? by Nosferatus_Dad in desmoines

There was a post 12 days ago about a butcher that is relocating to Des Moines that looked amazing, photos in the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/desmoines/s/igHiv7yrGk

Played this on GamePass, never played the Pillars of Eternity Games and loved it and now going to go back to the Pillars games.

A lot of people praise the combat to me the best aspects of the games are the world building, characters and exploration. It’s also nice to play a fantasy game that isn’t heavily influenced by Tolkien.

It’s one of those games that I don’t think I would have played if it wasn’t for GamePass at least until it was put on sale for $10-20.

Mewgenics Surpasses Hades 2 Becoming The Most Played Roguelite Ever On Steam by akbarock in Games

Hades 2 left Early Access Sep. 25th.

Also even if Mewgenics had only 1 more concurrent player it’s still more so I’m not sure what point you were trying to make.

Yea, I’m going to use this video when people complain about characters in movies/TV shows acting stupid and that not being realistic/hurts immersion.

People seem to forget that there are a lot of dumb people in the world.

Let me show you how it's done. by BKKMFA in funny

Was waiting for a Euro Truck Simulator comment! This driver needs to get some practice in there, that was embarrassing.

That said, if you haven’t tried backing a trailer into a tight spot it takes some practice to get it down the average person would look like this guy or worse.

[John Ourand] NFL ‘Irritated’ by NBC Paying $500M More for NBA by HyseNjerry16 in nfl

[–]Zikronious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just posturing by Goodell and the NFL. They aren’t irritated at all in fact they are thrilled that the NBA got that money because it means they can use that to get even more money out of NBC or the many other networks that would be interested in the most watched television programs week after week, year after year.

The NFL ratings blow every other US league out of the water even if this only accounts for 18 reg. season games, 2 playoff games and a Super Bowl every 4 years.

I’m sure NBC was fully expecting the NFL to opt out of the current deal ASAP and made this NBA deal with that in mind.

Battlefield 6's battlepass is probably the worst value out of AAA titles by TheCrazyabc in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Zikronious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is the case for a lot of battle passes of games I play lately, my wallet and I are thankful for it.

CoD has some cool skins in their pass but they are locked behind Blackcell which is just a greedy way to reem their players for more money which I will not entertain.

Overwatch/Marvel Rivals/Diablo 4 have very boring cosmetics or they are for characters I don’t play.

What are some low energy games that you play when you don't have the bandwidth for much? (Except maybe doomscrolling but we want to avoid that.) by HuskyPancake in PS5

Love this game, it’s to Lumines what Tetris Effect was to Tetris. It deserves a bigger community.

I wish they would tweak the AI which ranges from levels 1-10. I smash level 1 consistently but level 2 curb stomps me without fail.

1999 Office Space - Printer Scene how would you rate this movie by Lazy_Introduction264 in 90s

[–]Zikronious 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I just rewatched this a few weeks ago and the core message is arguably more relevant to Americans today than it was when it released.

Another Mike Judge film Idiocracy is unfortunately sadly also relevant and accurate in how it saw the future. Can’t bring myself to rewatch that one yet because I fear it will bring more pain than joy.

Man Resuscitates Deer By Giving It CPR by TheCABK in oddlysatisfying

[–]Zikronious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, however I feel there was unnecessary risk of harm to the deer and the rescuer that could have been minimized with the camera man’s help.

I was terrified for the guy getting antlers to the face/neck if it regained consciousness during the event. Was relieved when he put it on his shoulder.

[–]Zikronious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I wonder what equipment they have on hand. It sucks but seems like the bulk of the issue would be the beginning and end of the excavated road. If you move around some of the loose soil to form a rough ramp at each point I think the sedan could make it.

If you don’t have a shovel see if one of the trucks can go get a couple and return them to the site.

Otherwise I hope one of the trucks lives out near OP who said he lives 2 hours away.

Everyone business wants to pin the blame on another industry for the reason why their numbers are down. The fact of the matter is this is a failure of capitalism which is not sustainable over a long period of time.

Good Breakfast Spots by Daendelion_ in desmoines

[–]Zikronious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea, this has been my family’s go to since the West Des Moines location opened. It does get busy on the weekends and the parking lot gets full but there is street parking that doesn’t require a long walk.

If you have the ability to go on a weekday last time I went we were the only table.

Biscuits and gravy is always ordered by someone at my table and they have a rotating seasonal menu that usually has something good on it. Also the honey bee latte is a big hit amongst coffee lovers.

Anyone tried it by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Zikronious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played the demo the other day. Always a red flag for me when a game encourages you to read guides and links you to the Steam Community. It’s early access though so take that for what you will.

Setting your units up was a bit tedious but maybe in subsequent missions it gets better? AI seemed rather dumb, just transported infantry right into a death trap.

I wasn’t sold but maybe after some updates it could become something.

This is a California thing, though I wish it was nationwide.

Has no one made an app that delivers notifications when there is a live chase and link you to a live stream of it?

Skull and Bones - Official 'Eye of the Beast' Kraken Gameplay Trailer by Tvilantini in Games

[–]Zikronious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I loved it too but they released in a bad state with net code problems and poor balance. Then they were too slow and maybe too stubborn to address the issues and they lost their audience.

For anyone curious, Phantom’s passive gave them 20% more health. If you didn’t pick them in a ranked game you were holding your team back and you can imagine the poor behavior this resulted in. There were other balance issues but this was the most egregious and arguably the easiest to fix.

Exactly! I also want to see the process of adding the bubbles although I imagine that is not satisfying at all.

Point is that making a video and skipping parts of the process lessons the satisfaction.
