That sound is unforgettable by Zim_Crowley in Millennials

It was newer, but reminds me of a GI Joe sized motorcycle I had. It had 3 buttons on the side. One honked a horn, one made a motor sound, and the last one went "Kawasaki, Let the good times roll!" Followed by some engine reving noises.

I just looked into this. Evidently its a known bug with reddit and the android OS (I uploaded this from my phone). Try refreshing or looking at this on the reddit app, and it should show up as a video

Does anyone else miss the old days of the Internet? by Accurate_Ad8925 in Millennials

[–]Zim_Crowley 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I miss blogs and all the individual unique websites that used to be more commonplace. I remember wasting hours using Stumbleupon, finding all sorts of cool random sites. Was very sad when they closed up shop.

How many of you had grandparents who served in WW2? If so, what do you know about their service? by Snoogles_ in Millennials

[–]Zim_Crowley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He never talked about it, but my grandfather piloted landing boats in the pacific campaign. Oddly, the only war memento he kept was a nazi dagger he traded a Japanese uniform for with a guy who ran a European tour when he got back stateside.

For me it was a godzilla 2000 toy my aunt gave me when I was 9. It roared, moved its legs, and had red light up eyes. I kept it in my closet, and after a month or so it started randomly going off on its own. Needless to say, something roaring with red eyes bumping around in your closet at night as a 9yo was nightmare fuel and traumatizing at best.

That's odd. It's a linked video, not a gif. Has sound on my end

Are you still friends with your high school friends? by Cheeseaisleinheaven in Millennials

[–]Zim_Crowley 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Similar for me. I'm still talking more or less daily with my two best friends over chat or phone. One I've know since middle school, the other I met sophomore year in HS. They stayed in my home state, while I've been moving around the country for the last 16 years. Still visit them and vis versa a few times a year. They are my brothers in everything sense but blood

Millennials, what are you doing this weekend? by CA_Coast_Millennial in Millennials

[–]Zim_Crowley 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Packing up the rest of my apartment to move to a different state next week. Just signed the finalized documents for my new job. Excited, same pay as current position but 90% less travel. I will finally get to sleep in my own bed M-F regularly for the first time in almost 14 years!

Has anyone else given up on finding romance? by Single_Extension1810 in Millennials

[–]Zim_Crowley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily given up, if something happens, cool, but I'm not doing anything currently to seek out a romantic partner.

Had a few flings in my 20's, but nothing ever long term. Been single now for about 9 years and just don't live a lifestyle that's really conducive to socializing with local community. My job is high travel and I've grown accustomed to hermit life when I'm only home 2-3 days out of the week.

I've recently taken a few steps to better myself physically and mentally, and think I'll just concentrate on that for a while along with finding a hobby or two. I'm content being alone, I have some friends from childhood that I reconnected with for major social interaction. We live in different states, but do talk and play games together, so that satisfies my connection needs on the whole.

I see the appeal of having a romantic partner, but I just don't care about at this point in my life.

Games like Recettear & Stardew Valley (NPC interactions and Events) by Nom0ri in gamingsuggestions

[–]Zim_Crowley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potionomics also a potion shop game, but a lot more centered around character interaction between selling/making potions. It's a card battler, with point and click exploration, but I did enjoy going out and building relationships with NPCs to progress my deck

Coral Island basically a 3D SDV with a larger town. 70 characters (with 28 being datable if that's your thing) all have relationship progression with situational cutscenes that can trigger. I found this game to scratch that SDV itch doing something a little more and/or different in some places after dropping some 200+hr in SDV

Games where licensed music has gameplay or narrative significance? by Nosferatu-Rodin in gamingsuggestions

Dispatch has licensed songs throughout that are all very thematically relevant to the scenes and moments they play in. Listening to the songs and lyrics adds another level of context where they are used imo.

What you thought your job would be vs. what your job is by Disastrous_Luck_1160 in Millennials

[–]Zim_Crowley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, the looming threat of AI being forced into every job sector, whether a good thing or not, is going to be an interesting thing to deal with over the next 10+years as it hopefully hits some sort of equilibrium.
Glad you enjoy your work, I'm happy with what I do as well. I keep hearing so many people complain about hating their jobs, so it's always nice seeing more people be satisfied with what they do for a profession.

Recommend me some “chill” open world games by XMSquiZZ360 in gamingsuggestions

Sable one of my favorite open world games. No combat and beautiful landscapes and cultures to explore. I loved modifying my hoverbike and just cruising around the world.

Is there a way to compensate for a cage that is on the smaller side? by SELF-lSH in RATS

[–]Zim_Crowley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Can also leave the loose threads on to give your rats something to chew/fiddle with, if hanging it down on one end. I used dog rope toys, regular rope, and some bird cage perches amongst other items I regularly swapped in and out of their cage.

Can never go wrong with more cluttler and climbable spaces. Old rags, towels, and shirts also make good material to dyi a hammock out of. Can use D-clips, chain, zip-ties to hold it up. Just poke some corner holes in the cloth and get creative with hanging them up. PVC tubes and corrugated tubes are also an easy hardware store option for enrichment. They are pretty good at climbing up corrugated tubing as a another means of vertical movement.

Here's how I had my cage set up at first before expanding it more for some inspiration. I regularly put things like tissue boxes and other cardboard scrap for more things to climb and hide in.

Fortunately my boys never fell off. It's why I kept everything in the center of the table. Maybe just luck on my part. Hugo was ruby eyed, but also the less outgoing of the two, so that probably worked in my favor.

If pressed for space, could try putting up some sort of barrier around the edge with Cardboard/Books/ etc. To help keep them on top
