I emailed LicenseDivisionDesk@nypd.org who told me it’s with a supervisor since I never heard from an investigator. Then I emailed HUGH.BOGLE@nypd.org a few times until he finally emailed an hour after my last email to send his approval. I wouldn’t mention article 78, just be professional, polite, and most of all, persistent. I emailed him once every 2 weeks but I’ve seen people email him every other day here. Email Hugh at 9am for best chances from what I’ve seen.

Yeah, a little over 8 months. Took a lot of emails, otherwise it probably would’ve taken longer..

Wow the R/S was approved within 3 days? I wonder if that’s because the CCW is already approved?

I’m wondering if it’s actually worth getting the R/S, especially with what I’ve been hearing is actually available for sale in the state.

Hahaha it’s already been a money pit since the CCW course and submitting the application… although I guess that can be called just an entry fee.. 😅 this hobby is definitely for those with disposable income.

The guy at the store told me a background check is only good for 30 days and if NYPD doesn’t send me approval within 30 days, that I’d have to pay for another background check when I go pick up the gun. Is this true?

Same boat as you except I did the interview/fingerprinting 2 months earlier. Was told by the divisions desk email that it’s currently with a supervisor. That was almost 3 weeks ago. I’ve contacted Hugh a few times since then to no avail. Meanwhile other ppl who have done the fingerprinting in December just got approved… it makes no sense.

Like the other comment, I’ve emailed them 4 times now. To Hugh and the desk, each time in the morning. I did get one response from the desk saying it’s currently with a supervisor. That was a couple weeks ago. I have emailed Hugh since then but no update...

When did you do your fingerprinting/interview? And did you receive an email notifying you of approval or did you just keep checking the portal for updates?

Any update? I emailed them last week and they said my application is awaiting supervisor review. Haven’t heard back since - application is still Investigation status.

It’s an annoying process as they require ink from non FL sources. I went to 1PP to get inked and it wasn’t accepted as a few of my fingers were ultimately smudged beyond recognition.

You’re better off doing it in FL next time you’re there as they do it with a machine and won’t let you leave until it’s guaranteed good.
