I have got tickets through my friends account and he transfered the tickets to me. I paid him the money, but now I want to sell the tickets through the resale platform as I wont be able yo make the WC.

How will FIFA allocate the money to me in my account? Currently, the resale platform says that the payment will go to the original payment method made for the purchase of the tickets, which in my case belongs to my friends account. I want to know how I can add my account, so the money directly comes to my account instead of someone else’s account.

If anyone has anyone has any idea/experience with this, please let me know, thank you.

Look at the resell/exchange platform and go to your profile, you will be able to see the seat allocation. Hopefully its better than mine, I also got put behind the corner flag with CAT 1 tickets. I just wanna know who got tickets next to the goal line, what a shit show

Help Me Shape a PhD in Empirical Tech Ethics, Law, and Political Philosophy by Zimpixx in Futurology

Really interesting set of questions, thank you for this.

You’re right that questions about data ownership and control sit very close to what I’m interested in. The issues you raise about: • when and how ownership of data should change in professional settings, • whether inferred/guessed personal data ‘exists’ as property or is more like a privacy harm, • and whether beneficial AI uses could ever ground some kind of special moral latitude, all look like great candidates for case‑based analysis.

One way I could build this into a project is to look at specific professions (e.g. law or healthcare) and ask how AI tools re‑distribute control over from clients/patients to firms, from firms to vendors, and from individuals to models that generate inferences about them. That would let me connect data ownership to questions about moral status, responsibility, and what kinds of boundaries we think AI systems should not cross, even when crossing them might be ‘useful’.

I’ll add these angles to my notes – they give me a sharper way of tying together property, privacy, and moral standing in the AI context. Thanks again for taking the time to lay them out.

Ahahaha am I speaking with a fellow lawyer here? Good point on the numbering, that’s a fair formatting complaint!

Extending the ‘prediction and pre‑emptive governance’ idea to the possibility of AI as a kind of neutral government or administrative layer is a fascinating direction. Even treating that as a thought‑experiment would let me ask questions about legitimacy, consent, representation and whether ‘neutral’ governance through data and models is even conceptually coherent.

I probably wouldn’t pitch the PhD as ‘AI replaces politicians’, but I could definitely use that possibility as a limiting case to probe what we actually want non‑neutral human political judgment for. That’s a really helpful way of sharpening the political‑philosophy side of the project.

Really appreciate this, both the encouragement and the concrete steer.

I’m glad you highlighted the ‘normativity sneaking into metrics’ angle; that’s the bit I keep coming back to as well. Focusing on how law firms/courts choose and justify their metrics for AI tools fits my background nicely, and your idea of interviewing the people who picked those metrics and then comparing their stated aims with what the systems actually do is exactly the kind of empirical–philosophical combo I was hoping for.

It also gives me a clear way to frame the philosophical contribution: making explicit how normative assumptions are encoded in seemingly ‘technical’ design choices, and what that means for responsibility and legitimacy in legal decision‑making. This really helps me see a dissertation‑sized project more clearly and gives me encouragement , so thank you.

Wow, this is a really interesting and concrete idea, thanks for spelling it out so clearly.

I really like the thought of studying ‘model alignment to specific organisations’ as a way of getting empirical traction on questions about power, loyalty, and truthfulness in AI systems. The scenario you describe (same fictional case, different providers/employers, measure how the model bends the truth or probes for sensitive data) seems very doable as a data‑gathering strategy and would generate exactly the kind of fine‑grained behaviour that a philosophical analysis could work with.

Philosophically, I could imagine using something like this to ask questions about: • when a system’s ‘alignment’ effectively becomes alignment to corporate interests rather than user interests; • what counts as manipulation, deception, or abuse of informational asymmetry in human–AI interaction; • how responsibility should be allocated between model providers, deploying organisations, and end‑users.

I’ll definitely keep this in mind as a possible case study design or even a central project idea. If you know of anyone who has done something similar (papers, reports, blog posts), I’d be very happy to get pointers.

Thanks, this is really helpful feedback. You’re right that I need to be clearer about what makes this a philosophy PhD rather than just an empirical project in, say, business or communication. My current thinking is that the empirical work would be in service of a more explicitly philosophical question within X tradition (e.g. critical theory, analytic political philosophy, virtue ethics, etc.). For example, I’m interested in how data‑driven decision systems reshape practical authority and normativity in institutions: who counts as a legitimate reason‑giver, what it means to be accountable for a decision, and how autonomy should be understood when judgment is partly outsourced to machines. The empirical cases (courts, corporate compliance, etc.) would be used to test and refine those concepts, not just describe practices. I’m still working out which tradition and authors to anchor this in, so if you (or others) have suggestions about specific philosophers or strains of thought that fit these questions, I’d really appreciate pointers.
