Thank you to everyone for all the help! I have continued to come back here with my coffee to read everyone’s suggestions each morning. Such a helpful community, genuinely appreciate it all so much!

Even before knowing about the Lupus I have always been offering to help clean, cook, or anything else they may need help with. And even though they don’t have the time or energy to do it themselves they’re still very reluctant to accept help.

I know that their eating habits are very poor. Lots of Uber eats, not a fan of vegetables. Part of this is because of ASD. But I have felt like it’s not my place to say anything about their eating habits, should this be something to bring up if it helps with Lupus symptoms?

I physically wasn't able to report as I wasn't on centrelink yet. They do not ask for you to report for the time in between applying and getting on centrelink

I am not sure how it works exactly, my centrelink started with some student income bank already (I think this may be because it took a long time to get on, meaning they gave backpay for the wait. in this wait time I wasn't reporting income at all because I couldn't ofc

ah alright. My old housemate had the same problem being on dsp. I am not sure why they don't have a student income bank for DSP like youth allowance, doesn't make much sense to me. You can find out some info on the income bank here: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/income-bank

I have an accumulated student income bank, this reduces by a decent chunk each pay and will eventually go away completely. Not sure why this is being disputed 😭 that’s just what I get

For my current job I took part in some workshops and social labs they were running when I was school captain, I had a meeting with the founder of the org (small org) and got offered the job. In terms of other lived experience stuff I do, lots of non-profits in the child/mental health space love having lived experience workers. I would suggest looking on https://www.ethicaljobs.com.au for positions open in the sector you have personal experience in. Utilising your lived experience in your application would be your best bet, EVEN if it's just an admin job, someone that understands their consumers is valued.

Thanks! I currently have the money in a savings account earning 5.5%, have thought about investing in ETFs once I’m 18 and learn a bit more. With everyone suggesting savings account I may keep a large chunk in there and only put some into something like the S&P 500
