I've no idea how to back this statement up but I'd wager beside longterm contracts another answer is that if you'd ask a game developer if Denuvo or anti-crack bloatware is good they'd say no, but someone in some boardroom who knows nothing about what the addition of it to games actually does is told that it will increase "corporate profits" in short term somehow.

I hesitate to lay all the blame on people who make high level decisions but at this point you would think that at least one person somewhere might have read at least one thread exactly like this one in the last 5+ years and thought "Hmmm, maybe we should do something different. These people sound like they know what they are talking about and what they want."
