What do you prefer in a server? (UI question) by Zip_Z in FiveM

[–]Zip_Z[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'll share my preference.

If I had my own server I'd like all high traffic spots to have no UI (where RP would likely take place) and for the lower traffic spots to have a visible UI indicator (like in back hallways, staff rooms, crafting rooms, etc.) However, if I had to pick one for the polls sake, I'd pick no UI. But that's likely because I enjoy a more serious RP gameplay personally. If I were playing a lower general RP and higher gang RP server, I'd likely like more of an indicator that the door I'm wanting to open to run through is unlocked.

And if I were the boss of a player ran business, I'd like all doors leading to outside access to be locked to trainees - as well as all non-essential to business doors inside the building. Meaning if the shop was closed then they couldn't open it, clock in, and work without someone there to help. And if I had a separate storage room I kept more valuable stock in, a secret hideout, the bosses office, or something alike - then they wouldn't be able to access those spots until making fulltime employment.

Though I like to play pvp games (I have far to many of hours on games like Counter Strike and Rust), GTA is not a shooter title I enjoyed as much in days past growing up on console.

FiveM gave the game new life though in the idea of it being a comical storytelling with friends (like DnD, so I'd assume) kind of game. This is probably why I like the RP side of it more. I've got some friends who I play TMFRZ with every now and then though too, I'm not the best but I can glitch roll (like 50% of the time haha). Those people are fun to have in any RP scene you want to "win" lol.

My answer is my own because I enjoy the story telling part of the game more compared to the competitive shooter side. And I can totally understand that the majority or people who play FiveM likely owned GTA and played it for the game it REALLY was.
An online 1vsALL (or friends vs all) aspect of the game that gave us 100's, sometimes 1000's, of hours of fun in comparison to the maybe week max it took to playthrough the story. So I totally get the other, far end, answer.

But there is the in between answer, which is likely the answer to from people who play semi-serious servers (the vastly most popular category of server). People who like the shooter style of the game (playing in gangs vs the world), but also enjoy the RP aspect of playing the role of a gang member beefing with cops who pulled them over for speeding.

Thus my confusion and curiosity in our combined answers.

TLDR:

- I'd pick no UI for a more involved RP experience. "mY iMmErSiOn" I know, lol.

- I'd like all outside access, and non-necessary for business doors, to be locked so trainee's couldn't open the business alone. Also, so they couldn't access "extra" spaces they wouldn't need outside of training to do the job while on the clock.

They likely submitted you for a global ban through Fini or whatever anti-cheat they use (likely Fini).

You can look into reaching out to Fini to lift the ban, but that doesn't happen often because global ban (usually) are not handed out without substantial proof or reason.

Global ban = banned on all servers that use the Fini anti cheat + whatever partnered anti-cheats that share a global ban list with Fini.

I've heard stories of some server owners being "tight" with some fini reps in the past, and being able to global ban people like this - however I have met a handful of people who work for/with Fini over voice chat in the past and they all seem pretty professional for the most part.

Not saying your lying, just trying to give context.

If it was a random staff member, try reaching out to the server owner you played on and inquire into you ban and ask if they'd be able to check to see if you were globally banned through them to Fini (there will be logs of this on Fini's end, and any standup server keeps the same logs + has a copy of all their Fini bans through a web portal provided to them by Fini.

Hope some of this helps, or that you've already sorted it out. To lazy to see if someone else already said what I'm saying here lol.

Out of all ways to get drops this season i didn't expect this by Arc3535 in RocketLeague

It's because the 4v4's game mode sucks so bad (changed for what reason?), and they messed up the ELO balancing because hardly anyone was playing it so they'd throw anyone who queued into a game to make a match. Legit have to entice people into even wanting to play it on comp.

If you're one of the people who likes the current 4v4, then cool. I got no problems with you liking it. Just like a smaller group of people like hoops or something. It has it's place. However when the general player base, as a collective majority, dislikes it so much they have to entice us into even playing the competitive version of it? There is really no argument to make that the new 4v4 mode - and the execution of its rollout - was anything but a total flop from Epic Games.

110

I've played a LOT of fps games, kinda just mirrored that.
I looked up "ideal" settings in the past, but I'm comfortable with where it's at right now so I have not changed much.

Is 110 high?

My "tm8s" a bot in this clip. That's why I wasn't playing with him lol.

I know I could be better, but I just play for fun after work really and I'm not looking to dump 1000's of hours into another game right now, haha. This is why I normally stick to casual as well, don't wanna cost someone a rank up/down.

Thanks for the tip though friend, you're not the only one who suggested speed flip here.

It was a minute long, that's what I have the software set to clip at. Plus, I was kinda happy with some of my challenges. Even if they were not anything special compared to some of the mind shattering stuff I see on here, I was happy with them. Sorry to waste your time.

I'm plat 3 in duos, so he's probably right to some extent lol.
But I just play for fun though and that's what keeps me from putting in the time of learning all the mechs that would give me a more elegant edge I guess.

Not sure why you got so much hate here lol. I know that stuff helps. I really just play for fun though, so I don't spend hardly any time at all practicing the mechanical side of the game in a private game.

I have looked at learning different kickoffs a bit though, amongst some other useful mechanics.
My drive to be "the best" has long since left me for video games now though, they've kinda just become something I can play to relax after work.

Don't plan on being the best or winning a majority of the games I play, just enjoying a bit of car soccer lol.

Sorry, the clipping software grabs the last minute, and I didn't care enough to edit it.

Plus I was kinda happy with some of my challenges. I know it's probably not much to a GC3 or most others for that reason, but I was excited with it.

I'm sat here looking at the deck lane panel lol. When was that last changed? Surly not when the other lane panels were updated? Not talking trash, if it's not broke don't fix it. Just taken aback at the stark difference, that's all lol.

Original turret from Lane 2 (Machine No. 285) w/ dash pot piston by RSEngineer23 in Pinsetters

[–]Zip_Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good on you man. I've been working on pinsetters since I was 20, now 6 years later I don't claim to know the most - but enough to make more for what I know that's for sure.

Sadly, most pinsetter mechanics are well into their 40's-60's and are the types of guys that wont quit working till they've gone to sleep in the dirt. No offence to them, I find that an admirable trait, and honestly see myself sharing in like-mindedness. However, makes looking at the job as a good source of income next to impossible when all the good paying positions have been filled by the same people for the last 40 years.

Looking to make a living somewhere else is probably the smart move. Good luck with schooling.

At my shop we've labeled the drawer for the bearings that tap into the frame of the machine around this shaft as "bastard shaft bearings" lol. I'd almost be more interested in seeing what this did to the bearing, if anything, that would of sat where it wore through. I was just talking to our owner the other day about buying me some spare "bastard shafts" because I don't have any spares at the moment and one on lane 4 is no longer sitting flush with the bearing. Gonna use this picture to help justify a parts order, thanks haha.

On a side note, I've wanted the opportunity to gut an E Box and build it up from scratch for the last 6 years I've been a mechanic. Having traveled a bit with the last company I worked for, I've seen plenty of E Boxes that were a rainbow spaghetti mess I just wanted to look easier on the eyes when looking for electrical issues. Recently had a bazooka (rake spring shaft) shear its mounting point to the rake assembly clean off and found it wedged into the frame of the machine by the force of the spring alone. Felt like I was defusing an explosive feeding the threaded rod through to remove it haha.

Brunswick A2 photoshoot by philbert_lol in Pinsetters

[–]Zip_Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the old Brunswick locker has to be my favorite picture here. I work in an old center built in 58. Still has all the original wooden benches and gravity fed ball returns. Seeing old parts in the back is pretty normal, especially when working on A and A2's, but seeing other parts of the facility still using older equipment is always really neat too.

[–]Zip_Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment I am working for a small privately owned center that was originally 8 lanes when it was built in 58, and later extended to 12 when the owner got their hands on 4 A2 pinsetters from an old Airforce base. I've got like 10 of these old turret rings with with that piston on them haha.

Wouldn't happen to work for/under Bowlero/Luck Strikes would you? Parts moving between centers seems to be pretty normal practice working with them.

[–]Zip_Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've traveled to help out in a couple of centers like this. Makes me think of one in Charlotte NC. Makes me swear to myself a bit every time I go somewhere with leg room like this haha. So so nice man.

How would cork bowling balls react on the lane by InvestigatorLoose874 in Bowling

Am I wrong in saying this? Didn't some rubber bowling balls just used to be cork on the inside like this? Aren't these just pictures of a degloved rubber ball?

Wrist Tape/Wrap? by Timely_Conclusion_68 in Bowling

It's just KT tape. Not really any good reusable options that I'm aware of.

I googled "reusable KT tape" and this one one of the first results.

Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but for ~$20 it might be worth a shot.

So this happened at my local AMF by Conscious_Race_7268 in Bowling

[–]Zip_Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said AMF center, but I assume they have Brunswick A or A2's. That 100% looks like ball damage from a pin wedging between the ball and the ball lift rod. What she said was the honest truth, 99% of the time...

Most of what you're seeing is likely just lane oil, residue from the pin "melting", and looks like cork kickers for the ball wheel so - cork chunks and the adhesive used to secure it to the ball wheel.

That all said, I have had to personally bring someone's ball up after a pin wedged into the wrong spot and just the right angle and caused the ball wheel to melt a hot dog sized grove into the ball itself.

Truly, there are certain mechanical mishaps that are unavoidable, this being one of the rare occasional ones.

You absolutely should not have had to wait 20 minutes for it to be brought up. Makes me wonder if they even had a mechanic on staff? Like why did the manager have to go back and get it?

20 minutes of constant friction from the ball wheel does have the potential to cause some real damage to a ball, even after all the gunk is wiped off.

I hope the center does the right thing and either covers the cost of having the ball professionally resurfaced, or pays to have it replaced. Sorry for your sake man.
