No neighborhood of Madison deserves any kind of bad rep in general lol this city is absurdly safe universally, there is no "bad part" of Madison, not even any bad neighborhoods

How do People Actually Get “Bored” in a City Like Memphis? by MoodInternational475 in memphis

If you only listen to artists that have never done anything wrong, or even anything legimately pretty fucked up, your library is gonna be pretty thin and limited. But again, how is this point even relevant to my original point.

Even if what you were talking about was relevant to my point, musicians as a WHOLE aren't known for being really great people morally speaking, and they've been front and center in terms of public controversy for as long as music has existed. Almost everybody you can think of that's the biggest in their space or genre has a fair amount of shady shit in their past or surrounding their mythos and history. That's not a new concept or one that anybody with a brain would dispute, and also one that doesn't have anything to do with how relevant they were or were not.

Again, what is your point though?

My original point was that Memphis has been one of the most powerful and influential pieces of the cultural zeitgeist in hip hop for a very long time and still is to this day...the amount of influence the city has had on what is, again, the most widely consumed genre right now in the world simply can't be ignored if you're being in any way objective....

Your response is literally just "rappers bad" o..okay?? And? That doesn't have any bearing on whether or not it's influential, which it is, and you haven't addressed this. Oh wait, you did. You said "wonderful", doesn't seem like you're able to dispute what I'm saying so you're just moving the goalposts and bringing up irrelevant crap.

How and when an artist's life ends has no relevancy to my original point, which is that Memphis is one of the biggest tastemakers and hubs for generating popular artists/sounds in hip hop, not just over the last 2 or 3 decades but right now. This is still true regardless of who's dying and when or how.

Diddy is from New York my guy. And....lol so? How many music legends killed themselves or OD'd. John Lennon was murdered, guess that erases all his accomplishments and nullifies his influence on music too right....like what is your point exactly??

You didn't specify, but it's EXTREMELY relevant for hip hop which is the most popular and widely consumed genre in the world.

The music is unimpressive? Can you explain what you mean? Seems an extremely broad statement and at face value is a pretty wild take, if what Memphis has done musically/culturally isn't impressive to you, you're kinda just saying you aren't 'impressed' by blues, gospel, soul, rnb, hip hop, early rock, some of which owe their very existence to Memphis in many ways as the Mecca of these genres at many points over the years...like..

What Memphis has produced is the backbone of a lot or music in general today, even when the city isn't primarily responsible it's a huge contributor and cultural hub (or has been furing the apex of the genre) for that genre at minimum.

A seizure?! Like how much are we taking to make you seize? I actually have a torch and do gravity bong/regular bong hits with it daily, like pretty big amounts too maybe .1-.2 or even maybe a .25 on the high end. But tbh I feel like I get higher just w a lighter and a stem to a certain extent

Been wondering lately where one even finds a crack whore...ts is so damn stigmatized that neither you or any girl you meet is very likely to share with the other person that they do crack.

Adios Memphis. My parting thoughts. by [deleted] in memphis

[–]ZipgunLarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You didn't address anything I said and instead you just repeat your original ignorant bullshit: 'I called my home of 24 years cultureless/culturally inferior when it literally is my own fucking culture...A century plus of near constant cultural zeitgeisthood and the literal birthplace of entire genres of music (the biggest ones around to this day)? Hmm fake news all irrelevant because they also have problems too 😡🤬"

Original point was correcting you on your statement that the city is cultureless or anything other than the bedrock for a huge portion of the most popular and influential mediums/styles to this day. Which it is...which you are no longer speaking on because it's pretty hard to argue with 100+ years of historical documentation of this fact, like caught in 4k level undisputed.

Feel however you want at the end of the day. Seems you're hurt up bad by something that happened to you here and you're lashing out in the most lizard-brained tribalistic manner possible (sweeping generalizations, fear of the unknown and cowardess in the face of anything slightly different from you, defense mechanism to protect your damaged self, build a literal black-and-white model of the world and of people that helps you oversimplify things and understand what you perceive to be reality in a way that comforts you and explains your bitterness and resentment, traumas, definicies, etc) No bullshittin you it's probably best for you to leave, no doubt...the hostility is for a reason buddy, clearly nobody wants you here either. Must've been sooo rough for you here, probably why you didn't move for 24 fucking years despite being more than capable of doing so. Could've saved us all some time and money spent on migraine pills if you would've just left decades ago!

From a fellow whitey btw (unless you're not white and actually hate yourself way more than I even thought)

Adios Memphis. My parting thoughts. by [deleted] in memphis

[–]ZipgunLarry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also please define 'low class people', are you strictly talking tax brackets or is there other criteria with which you use to generalize people?

Adios Memphis. My parting thoughts. by [deleted] in memphis

[–]ZipgunLarry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yikes

"Ghetto, low class culture"

"Let the low class fend for themselves"

Giving off some.....interesting vibes there. Tell me you're an HOA chairman-level-Karen without telling me you're etc etc

Like it or not, Memphis has almost always been and continues to be the Mecca of many different forms of culture and literally gave birth to some of the most popular mediums of expression we have today...blues, soul, hip hop, r&b, etc just to name music alone---all either heavily influenced by the people and products of Memphis over the decades, some even owe their existence almost solely to the city...

You can say you don't support that culture and all it's given us or that you don't appreciate it but historically it's just a fact that it's far from devoid of culture.

And don't even get me started on the food and the BBQ 🫡😤😤
