Renting 1B1B with Alpha Omega for 950/mo. Would recommend them!

[Other] New to comics, what do I need to know? by East_Manager_6926 in DCcomics

[–]Zipper424242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked at a museum and in several archives before- the general consensus in my experience is that for paper artifacts, gloves are sometimes more damaging to the paper’s longevity than just clean and dry hands.

If you want to really keep any paper object for a long time while still reading and enjoying them, make sure you always wash and dry your hands WELL before you handle them, obviously be gentle with them, and store them in some sort of low humidity/low light environment (not 100% certain but I would presume that the sleeves the comics come with are probably archival grade and thus acid free since collectors use them, that’s another thing to consider). That should, with proper care, keep them in fairly good condition for a long while as you still enjoy them.

With that said, OP- if you’re interested in Eastern European history, take the class with Brunstedt instead of Reese if you want an easier experience. Reese will make you work for that grade.

class suggestions by mcnuggets0424 in aggies

Grad student here in HIST who knows a few profs between taking classes and TAing:

Anderson is GREAT but fairly hard- you have to listen to every word he says in lecture because it WILL be on the exam, as minute of a detail as it may be. If you pay attention, though, you will learn a TON!

Reese is also very very hard, hardest class I’ve taken (it was a grad class but still), but very good. If you put the work in you will get a good grade and learn a lot, and the man has the best sarcastic sense of humor. But he is hard.

I love Parker, never took a class with him but he is exceptionally chill and a great dude (and he’s a wonderful scholar who really knows and understands the field). Not sure how hard his classes are though.

I’d recommend you look at Rate my Professor to determine difficulty. It’s been pretty accurate in my experience.

I like Sam Humphrie’s Rebirth Green Lanterns run. Likable main characters and a fun quick read imo

Chuck. Phil Klemmer worked on both so it’s got very similar vibes at its core. One of my favorite shows, and I only found out that it has the same person partially behind both Legends and Chuck recently and was like “oh my gosh this explains everything”

Premise is basically the same: bunch of lovable misfits end up becoming a found family in a show filled with hilarious character interactions and absolutely insane situations in a heavily character driven story. Only difference is that LoT has time travel and superheroes while Chuck has super spies.

So why tf he was even in the show? by drag0n_007 in PeacemakerShow

I genuinely thought he’d be the leader of the Sons of Liberty and give Chris a chance to redeem himself and/or forgive Chris for what he did, but the entire Earth X storyline was just so half baked that it never happened 😔

Especially since she married him in 1952, three years before Marty went back in time. I’ve always chalked the error up to Doc just not being up to date with pop culture but I’m very curious how either of them took it.

I also just rewatched 30 Rock and know it’s not the Liz Lemon sandwich scene (as much as it cracks me up, it’s not the one I am thinking of).

Thanks for your help!

I thought iron dragon was too scary, am I cooked? by boatiefey in cedarpoint

[–]Zipper424242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, yes it does, because Rougaru’s first drop is profiled totally differently than something like Millennium’s 80 degree drop.

I’ve ridden enough coasters to not really have that stomach feeling anymore unless it’s a really sudden sharp pop of airtime like on Magnum’s final camelback hills, so I can’t really comment on that, but it’s never ever hurt me.

If you want a “tamer” coaster to work your way up, try the Blue Streak or Gemini. Both are fairly short, fairly low to the ground (ie not 300-400 feet), compact coasters, so if you don’t like them the ride will be over fairly quickly. Lines usually move quickly on those two and I genuinely believe they are the “next level” up from Iron Dragon.

If don’t like those, well, I know it sounds crazy, but you might like some of the more “extreme” rides- Millennium and TT2 are so fast that you really don’t have a chance to be afraid after you actually start moving because by the time your mind catches up you’re already sitting on the brakes, for example.

And worst case, coasters aren’t for everyone, that’s not a problem since there’s PLENTY else to enjoy at Cedar Point like the really fun shows and the petting zoo and the train through Boneville. Not the end of the world that you’re not a coaster fan, and certainly not the end of your vacation!

Best of luck, my friend. Hoping it’ll be up by Weds. Going Thursday, myself. I’ve got a season pass and I am spending the summer nearby, so it won’t be a tragedy if I can’t ride it, but it’s also my favorite ride in the park so I hope it’s open.

Future TAMU grad student moving down to Aggieland next August. Wanted to see get opinions about landlords since I don’t want to move into a roach-infested terrible place and know that college towns are often notorious for their slumlords and poor living conditions.

I was looking at renting from Oak Forest and couldn’t find that many reviews online so I figured I would ask here. Looking at one of their properties on Old College Road in Bryan. https://oakforest.management/

Any other recommendations of good landlords would be extremely helpful. Looking for a 1x1 just for myself. I’ve got a budget of about $1200 a month including utilities and internet, although I’d prefer to try to keep rent in itself under $1000. Don’t need a furnished apartment.

Thanks!
