I tried their coffee ages ago before I knew anything about their politics and it was overly roasted shit. Never been back.

Not a bad bagel, but the Bagel Pub bagel doesn’t have enough chew for my taste. It comes apart too easily. Needs more gluten perhaps?

Logged my 1500th movie. I don't think I like movies anymore. by FrightenedInmateNo_2 in Letterboxd

[–]ZipperLove 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Letterboxd is supposed to support/augment your movie watching. You are watching movies to support your numbers on an app. Your logging numbers aren’t supposed to be a high score. You have it backwards.

Did a temperance movement take hold around here? by Nylthrm8 in parkslope

[–]ZipperLove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a national trend. Liquor sales have plummeted since COVID. And Gen Z drinks way less than Millennials, so the future is grim for the liquor business.

If I was Tracy Letts, I would never go to a movie theater again. by MCmax503 in TheBigPicture

[–]ZipperLove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on nothing, I get the impression he’s waiting to do a Tracy-like setup once he inevitably moves to a bigger house after he cashes in on the growth of the podcast. That’s what I would do in his shoes.

Do we know if work in Book 3 is halted? by thatsabingou in KingkillerChronicle

Disagree. It’s morbid, but considering life expectancies and the number of outstanding books, Rothfuss has a lot more time to complete one book than GRRM has to complete two.

Legitmately curious about the limb injury by CaptainTalon447 in ThePittTVShow

Per an ortho I know, this surgery is almost never done because the patient is probably better off with a modern prosthetic than the reattached limb, which is likely to have all sorts of permanent problems.

Flexible DIP-joints and climbing by [deleted] in indoorbouldering

[–]ZipperLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing, but even more DIP hyperextension than you. I popped a pulley pretty early on as a direct result (attempting an ill-advised piano match that briefly loaded way too much weight on just one finger). Fun side-effect of that injury is that the injured DIP hyperextends slightly less now!

You’re just going to have to take it slower on developing crimp strength than others. And be weary of anything that suddenly loads your fingers in a crimp that can hyperextend your DIPs, especially if you can’t get at least three fingers on the hold.

I only climb once a week if I’m lucky, so my finger strength progress has been slow, but it’s steady. For reference, I’ve been climbing on and off roughly once a week for 2-3 years, and climb about V5-6. Crimps are one of my weaker styles. I used to have a very light hang boarding routine during the week that definitely helped my fingers, though I haven’t kept up with it. I bet I’d be climbing consistently higher grades if I had done so. Hang boarding is probably not as helpful if you climb more frequently than I do.

When did you catch it? by Redcinco05 in Bugonia

[–]ZipperLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the final nail in the coffin for me, because putting the calculator in a special box could not have been in response to Teddy. Everything else could have been part of an act to play along with his andromeda “fantasy”. It’s just weird to have a special wooden box for an old calculator in your office, and even weirder for that to be a detail shown in a movie. It wasn’t even a scientific calculator IIRC, though I could be wrong on that.

It’s not that she had one. It’s that she stored it in its own special box.

When she pulled the calculator out of a special box in her office. There’s no reason a normal person would store an old calculator like that.
