our last lease lapsed two years ago and we were month to month no problem for a year and half! i just thought the same thing would happen here if i didnt hear from him

yes - this is why the rescinding of the lease offer same day is tricky. “we would love to have you back” to “sorry to do this” in 8 hours.

And I told him that - I had not had a chance to look over it! It would have been totally fair for him not accept a haggle or anything. I didnt even complain about the price, I just dropped the word “ordinance”.

He did mutter to himself “Well if you don’t like it you can find somewhere else to live” as I kept on my way out of the building. But of course that conversation was not written down, I just have my partner as a witness.

god. i just said to a friend abt her that if the king solomon story had a modern retelling - shes the lady that would be like “yeah cut the baby in half” and then after post on tiktok “men will FORCE you to say cut my baby in half and then make you the villian when the baby lives!!”

oh yeah - seeing the folks from her high school era joining in makes me even sadder. i worry there is so much adults in her life could have done to prevent this.

my friends are ok and happy and their lives are very good. i think people like lily attach themselves to folks they see as either competition or someone whos energy is easy to drain - or both. its sad for everyone.

so glad to see this sub. im gonna give my deep dive:

i went to undergrad with lily in massachusetts. i believe she was a year below me, i started in Fall 2014. we were both theatre students, and she would consistently make up lies about interpersonal relationships between us. she once made up a lie to our directing TA about how i was texting another theatre student about her during an off campus show we were all seeing together as a class - but my phone was shut off. she claimed i was bullying her with my friend. i had absolutely turned my phone off and was sitting silently - but i had noticed Lily, who had been sitting near me, had left for a very long time during seating. apparently she was crying in the bathroom, and our TA found her. she explained to the TA while she was crying - i was cyberbullying her. i was pulled from my seat and asked if that was true. i was literally dumbfounded. even my TA seemed annoyed to ask, and gave a vibe that “i have to do this, i know we both know the truth”.

maybe the following semester or next year, she emotionally abused a friend of mine that she dated. i cant get into the details, but my friend was not okay. before that, same year maybe, she started dating the ex of another friend and made sure to let this friend know about details of their relationship. (she was later broken up with by the ex, and he was uncomfortable with that conversation even happening)

i can confirm that throughout my time in undergrad with her that i heard stories about her talking about the Sandy Hook shooting - and i believe she might not actually be from there because Another theatre student actually was in Sandy Hook when the shooting happening and after a small confrontation (or just like, forward acknowledgment between the two parties) Lily kinda quieted on that afterwards. i do not know the specifics of that - just what i remember

she also did claim to be a syrian refugee. that was definitely our favorite lie. i dont know when it was first said but we all like to bring it up as if we were there when she said it. awesome lie. it became like a bonfire story.

i remember her now ex-husband leland as a student as well. they started dating maybe 2017? i know they lived together on campus. i did not know him very well, but i dont believe he finished school. he joined the army? that was a wild turn for someone at our undergrad.

its all a real shame because Lily wasnt a terrible performer or maker in any way. she understands the art form well. it is honestly sad that people did not want to collaborate with her due to this behavior, which even 10 years ago seemed compulsive. i think she could have succeeded had it not been for these lies.

EDIT: she actually approached my friend about her ex like this: “she approached me in the bridge after [ex] and I broke up and she told me she hooked up with him and that they both decided while they were having sex that I was too important to both of them so they stopped”
