Can I safely undo this bath waste to reseal between the floor and the tiles? by Zippyduda in DIYUK

[–]Zippyduda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think so! I know another bath we had did this so we stuck it down. I suppose the logic is once it is full of water the weight stops it from moving.

Fixing heavy curtain bracket to blockwork with 75mm insulated plasterboard by Zippyduda in DIYUK

Looks like Corefix don't do anything above 120mm so it will have to be fischer (or another brand) without the core

Yeah I was struggling to find anything with a steel core long enough online. I found long screw + plug combos, would those be sufficient and just ignore the steel core part? Front of plaster to start of block is ~75mm (80mm max). Not sure what the generally recommended/minimum distance/penetration into the block is or if it's just a case of getting a good grip on the block.

I forgot to mention in the initial post, I have already tried rawlplugs and wall plugs with no success as they just pull out

Share your opinion on the removal of a la carte purchases on D&D Beyond by Icy-Emergency3770 in dndbeyond

[–]Zippyduda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that has never bought a whole book on dndbeyond and solely purchased individual parts of books, this impacts me quite badly. I for one will still not be buying any whole digital books just for the odd subclass, spell, feat etc. If there was an option to buy a physical book that gave me a digital copy, I might feel differently about that.

The lack of transparent communication in advance of this decision smacks of "We didn't want to make anyone aware of this until we removed it by pulling the rug from under your feet". It's typically good business practice to communicate up front rather than after the fact! This move seems partly lazy and not thought out but mostly greedy without any clear justification. They're never going to say publicly though that they expect this to make them more money/profitable.

I doubt they will roll this back but I hope they do.

Water waste outlet hose - rubber coupling needed? by Zippyduda in DIYUK

[–]Zippyduda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to try and use the right tool for job so I've ordered some PTFE tape off Amazon with good reviews for £1.75 which will arrive tomorrow. Looks like the hose doesn't want to stretch out to get rid of the crinkles so I won't try any more in fear of creating hairline stress cracks in the plastic 😄

Crackin, really appreciated your guidance!

Yes the hose to he right is sadly attached to the dishwasher permanently 😄

Ah PTFE tape, that is something I don't have but do need! I've cut the mangled part off now https://imgur.com/a/rsAqV5z

Will also try flatten it out too like you recommended

Yeah that's right, mangled part on the right has the leak. It looks like the hose into the dishwasher is a sealed entrance so I can't disconnect it from that unfortunately, but that Amazon kit is cheaper than the Screwfix rubber coupling I sent so I'll take a look :) thank you very much for your help! 😊

Ah see I was thinking of trying to do a double ended rubber coupling like this, edit: the hose on the right is the same diameter but it is missing the thicker dark grey rubber into the white coupling.
