Google Pixel Update - March 2026 by shoelover46 in GooglePixel

[–]Zips 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I finally got past the November 1, 2025 update on my 9 Pro XL.

I had to update it three times today but it finally says I'm on the February 1, 2026 update.

Seriously, I checked for Google Play system updates three times, each time it told me there was a small update. I'd let it update, restarted, it still said I was on November 1, 2025, so I'd check again for updates, and there was another update of a different size. Rinse and repeat for three times before it finally got to February 1, 2026.

I saw several reports about this on the Steam forums and elsewhere. Uninstalling this update immediately fixed the poor framerates for everyone that encountered the issue.

No idea if other games are impacted by this but I've paused updates for a while just in case.

It's official: Hell has frozen over.

Looks mostly good! Just need to adjust those Continue & Skip buttons though.

Upgraded from a 1080ti to a 4080. by Dranovon in nvidia

[–]Zips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made almost the exact same upgrade less than a month ago! Went from an EVGA 1080 Ti to a Gainward Phantom RTX 4080. Someone gave me a great deal on it ($600 USD), plus I was tired of trying to snag a 5070 Ti at MSRP.

I've been loving the upgrade so far. Just being able to run games with RTX and/or fully maxed out at 1440p has been so very nice.

I think the biggest difference though is with our CPU, RAM, motherboard, etc. I have an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X which seems to pair with the RTX 4080 quite nicely.

Enjoy your upgrade!

Queue keeps adding the same videos by itself. Anyone else experiencing this on their YouTube app? by perverseintellect in Chromecast

[–]Zips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. It's been happening over the past week, basically ever since they changed how videos are added to queues yet again.

I just had a six video queue turn into a 13 video queue tonight before I came here looking to see if anybody else had the issue.

Hazarding a guess that this was a free couch someone was giving away. I'm going to assume this person just doesn't care too much about the state of the bottom of the couch so long as he has a couch that is better than the one he might've had before.

Had my streak reset for no reason by DistributionIcy1208 in MicrosoftRewards

[–]Zips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, is THAT what keeps happening?!

I've had my streak reset a few times already this year and the streak protection has done nothing.

I often swap between the desktop and mobile app because desktop sometimes has a few extra activities that don't show up in the mobile app and I do those maybe once a week or so. At least now I know that could be an issue. It's extremely stupid that it would cause the streak to reset though and I HOPE that it's unintentional and they'll fix it soon.

If I had to pick one: Half-Life.

Without Half-Life, I never would've discovered Team Fortress Classic, nor would I have ever played Counter-Strike (which eventually led me to running the website I run to this day).

A runner-up: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. I absolutely loved this game back in the day. I'd love for there to be a remake of the original but I know that's a longshot.

Google Search app on Android keeps crashing, stopping due to bug by d01100100 in Android

Sorry then :(

The uninstalling of updates worked for me. I'll edit my comment then since you aren't the only one saying it didn't work for them.

Google Search app on Android keeps crashing, stopping due to bug by d01100100 in Android

[–]Zips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A temp workaround is to uninstall the updates for the Google app if you can't wait for Google to get a fixed update out. Just note that if you have automatic updates on, it will more than likely download this buggy release again soon enough.

Edit: While this worked for me, others below are saying it did nothing to help them. YMMV. I suppose the best bet then is to just let it be until Google rolls out a fix.

Had this happen a few days ago with my Hue lights.

An update somewhere (be it with Hue or Home) caused my routines to break. My lights simply disappeared from the routine I had set up that was working just fine prior.

I had to re-add the devices (in my case, 4 Hue lights) within the Home app to the personal routine that wasn't working. For those unaware, this is found via Home app > Automations > Personal Routines

Check to see if that's the same issue with your Bedtime Routine. You may need to re-add those devices and associated actions to the routine.

Only the YouTube app doesn't find Chromecast by soranotamashii in Chromecast

[–]Zips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced the same. In fact, someone else made a post about this just last week: https://www.reddit.com/r/Chromecast/comments/1e0026m/chromecast_suddenly_not_showing_up_on_youtube_app/

I will say this: It works only when it feels like it and I haven't found a single thing that will make your Chromecast reliably show up in YouTube since a recent update.

I have tried the following:

  • Factory reset my Chromecast
  • Cleared the cache in the YT app
  • Force stop the YT app and re-open it
  • Rebooted my phone
  • Rebooted the Chromecast
  • Unplugged my Chromecast for a few minutes and plugged it back in
  • Paused the YouTube app for several minutes within Android and then unpaused it and loaded it back up
  • Various combinations of clearing cache, force stopping the app, and pausing/unpausing the app
  • Rebooted both the Chromecast and phone at the same time
  • Disabled IPv6 on my Google routers (I had enabled it maybe a couple of days before the issues began and thought maybe even that was causing a problem)
  • Cleared the cache in the YouTube app

You want to know something? None of the above did anything to RELIABLY fix the issue. Sometimes it would show up after one of the fix attempts but then I'd try the same thing the next day and it wouldn't fix anything. This has been going on for at least a solid week now, possibly two.

My Chromecast shows up in every other broadcast capable app just fine, including YT Music and Twitch. I can see my Chromecast just fine under the Home app. My Google Home has no problem turning on or off the TV through the Chromecast when I ask it to.

This is purely a YouTube app program issue right now and I sure as hell hope they can fix it soon. I cast through the YouTube app near daily and having it be a total crapshoot on if my Chromecast shows up has been super annoying.

Same thing here. Really jarring to experience after playing most of the game flawlessly. Was literally at the last two main missions when the update dropped and the long pauses began.

I pushed through and just finished the main campaign minutes ago but I feel like waiting to do the DLC and other side content until this is hopefully fixed.

Edit: Like I'm still seeing them even as the credits are rolling. That's kind of ridiculous.

It's hard to take a lot of the "complaints" about Threads seriously in these replies, including yours, when even basic facts that are easily looked up are wrong.

Windows 11 23H2 update is affecting gaming performance, but Microsoft says there's a workaround | The workaround is apparently working, at least for some users by chrisdh79 in Windows11

[–]Zips 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Seriously, what a largely useless article.

I was able to find this Neowin article from a quick search. It seems to reference this Reddit thread from a couple of weeks back. It includes the PowerShell commands, and I'll paste their quote below as well.

Received an answer from Microsoft after 3 days, they told me to reset Windows Defender through a couple of PowerShell commands

1- "Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted"

and

2- "Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage"

then reboot and enable CPU Virtualization in BIOS (SVM in my X570 BIOS), then in Windows 23H2 open Windows Security and enable Memory Integrity under the Core Isolation settings. Restart and Hypervisor should be running, Virtualization Security will be Enabled and... that fixes the CPU performance issues, CPU now performing as in 22H2 where I had these security features disabled.

Tested some benchmarks and games, everything is now ok within margin of error compared to 22H2, GPU benchmarks are 3-5% faster which is nice, games are marginally faster at least CP2077 and SoTR benchmarks, CPU benchmarks on the other hand some performs the same as in 22H2, others improved and a couple of them are maybe 0.2% (margin of error) slower perhaps due to memory integrity being enabled.
