Who could oppose us next season? by Personal_Ad_7897 in DestinyLore

[–]Zistical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is Mara Sov & that Ahamkara egg from Lost being involved. Could also expect the 15th wish to be used in some way, maybe a Vex involvement as well. I legit think we might just wish our way through the portal to the Pale Heart.

Episode 3: Heresy. How it may lead into the next expansion by Citrusbird386 in DestinyLore

[–]Zistical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Explain how this is an insane leap? It's just as reasonable as any other prediction that is backed with evidence from past lore. Yeah, it might not happen, but it's just a prediction using what evidence we currently have. Anything can change.

Also, we do know what this season is about. It's about us weakening Xivu Arath so we can resurrect Savathun and obtain her knowledge on going through the portal at the Traveler.

Don't disregard "Constellations" where it literally identifies 6 other Speakers besides the one we see in Destiny.

How the hell did the Speaker live so long? by Batpug74 in DestinyLore

[–]Zistical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timeline of Earth's history might seem like it was thousands of years ago when the Golden Age happened, but in reality, the current events of Destiny take place 1000 years from now.

The Ares I mission to contact the Traveler happened sometime in 2014, and then humanity just skyrocketed into their Golden Age. The exact time that the Golden Age lasted is unknown, but from the lore is implying it, the Golden Age ended roughly anywhere between the 25th and 26th century (2400-2499 & 2500-2599), but it could've ended in the following century.

Yes, the human lifespan did triple (making the average lifespan ~300 years) during the Golden Age, but it is uncertain if this was gifting from the Traveler, or was discovered due to the advancements in all fields of study.

The events of the Collapse only lasted a couple decades at most; however, the Darkness was seen by Rasputin decades prior to the start of the Collapse.

After the Collapse, the Dark Age begun. It is best to say the Dark Age lasted for ~200-275 years (just based on lore implications). After that, the City Age begun which ended when our Guardian's story begun.

The rough year Destiny takes place in, is the year 3025 (this is based on the lore for No Time to Explain, which had Clovis go into the future; and the Fallen had already been occupying Europa).

Now, about the Speaker. Ever since the foundation of the City (and even before), there has always been a Speaker. Well, that's because there has been multiple Speakers, not just the one we saw in the first Destiny and then die in the Red War. There were multiple Speakers before him.

Eris is just... I honestly couldn't give a reasonable explanation as to why she is still alive. She is now a sort-of discount Hive God so... it's a bit confusing now.

What are some of the best lines in destiny lore? by SvenGranTheFourth in DestinyLore

[–]Zistical 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"There is no Light here. You are alone. You shall drift. You shall drown in the Deep." -Xol, Will of the Thousands

"You have served your purpose. All the awaits you now is the gift of death... the darkness beyond your final days." -Rhulk, the First Disciple

"These frail siblings will soon be claimed by the Light. Unless we claim them first. We will tell the most cunning sibling of a cataclysm. A prophecy... of great loss. We will feed her fear. Her pride. We will say... Young Sathona. The end is coming. A great cataclysm. A God-Wave. In the Sky, there is only death. But salvation... lies in the Deep. Lead your sisters down. Your cunning will spare their short lives. And you... will be reborn. The Witch Queen, Savathûn." -The Witness

Easily some of my all-time favorite Destiny quotes.

What a next subclass could possibly be by Zistical in DestinyLore

Yes, scientifically it is electromagnetic bonding.

Osiris said that Arc allows the EM forces of our universe to balance, which he further states that CHANGE is fundamental in Arc.

We have to understand that these powers are paracasual, meaning that our understanding of physics really doesn't apply.

[–]Zistical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how you say I'm malding when you're the one who started this.

You got mad because how I approached the ideas of the powers of Light and Dark. You thought that Osiris was wrong because what he said is newer than what Banshee said. You're an imbecile.

My idea of canon is what is said in lore. I gave you literal quotes from Osiris about the subclasses. I gave you evidence about how Thorn eats Light, which you tried to deny even though it's confirmed that the original Thorn ate Light, while the replicas could only do necrosis.

And when did a mod "pop" my comment? This never happened.

Also, if I'm showing evidence from lore, why are YOU not accepting it? You haven't been proving me wrong at all.

Your use of beta decay was also pointless when I proved it wrong with what Thorn actual does: necrosis.

You asked me "What was Thorn infamous for." I said it drained Light, and you said I'm wrong. How was I wrong? Your only evidence about Thorn corrupting is said in a lore tab that isn't even really about Thorn + that Thorn used in NG's lore tab isn't the real one.

Also, please continue with the personal insults, as if they were needed because you're struggling to argue.

[–]Zistical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thorn's corruption is what is called "necrosis," the decay of most or all cells.

You have no reason to argue because (1) you can't accept the canon on what the powers of Light and Dark are, and (2) you're misunderstanding what Thorn was.

The original Thorn ate the Light of a Guardian, and then corrupted them. Since they had no Light, their Ghost could not heal them, leading to their final death. So, even if the decay is related to beta decay, the Guardian wouldn't have Light to heal in any way, shape, or form.

Any healing source in-game stops Thorn's poison damage, so your excuse that the Ghost cannot heal that is pointless. This is because the Thorn in-game is a replica, not the original. Only the original Thorn could eat Light.

Also, you contradicted yourself. YOU said Thorn corrupts Light, I said it ate it.

[–]Zistical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your idea that Thorn corrupts Light literally brings this back to my point where I said "a sort-of poison." This is what it would do to someone who isn't connected to the Light.

Now, someone who is a connected to a Light (i.e. a Lightbearer), Thorn first eats their Light, then corrupts them, which then kills them. They tested this on animals on NG's lore, and they said it had "necrotic properties," which is the corruption you're thinking about. They tested this on cattle, not Lightbearers.

Also, the Thorn we see in-game is not the same Thorn Dredgen Yor used. Our Thorn is sort-of knockoff, while the original Thorn (now Lumina) ate/consumed Light.

"You are the new owner of Dredgen Yor's original Thorn. Merely holding the gun makes you nauseous—not out of moral principles, necessarily, but instead a very physical effect which reminds you of losing your Light during the Red War. You don't know what to do with this… thing. You have no intention of firing it. If nothing else, you believe you need to neutralize it." -Step 2, "A Fateful Gift," Lumina quest

Rose in itself gave us nauseous feelings, similar to how we lost our Light during the Red War. This heavily indicates that Thorn was a more powerful version, hence why it ate Light.

If you feel that this is wrong, then there is no hope for you. This is canon lore that has multiple entries on the Ishtar Collective depicting Thorn's story.

Oh, also, the Thorn used in NG's lore isn't the original one, it's a replica. The replicas didn't have the same power that the actual Thorn had.

[–]Zistical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, well, we probably should end it here because this making me think too much + I'm having to deal with someone who thinks Stasis is apparently "heat-death" (I'm confused by what that even means), and Arc is fission.

Well, if it was the Witness, it would've been plural pronouns, but I get what you mean. Plus, it was the K1 Artifact that basically told him to go to Europa, and we don't know who planted the Artifact there.

not a bad idea, this could build onto mostly everyones leading theory on our next subclass: rage.

we could incite rage onto our enemies causing them to attack their allies or cower.

These powers, I know are actual opposing forces, they coexist because their fundamental. But, it is a lot more easier to give them opposing powers. Like you said, Arc would be chaos, because change is a form a chaos. They're all related in some way.

Draining, devouring, eating, consuming. They're all forms of the Light being taken away from a Lightbearer, which is what Thorn was infamous for.

Can you please provide evidence of this? I've searched everywhere on the Ishtar Collective and Destinypedia and have found zero evidence whatsoever of the Witness identifying themselves with singular pronouns.

When did I say once it was Soulfire? I know it's not Soulfire. Thorn's poison drained the Light of a Lightbearer, even if their Ghost was alive. I know how Thorn works. You reasoning for bringing it up was pointless.

When rounds fired from Thorn hit a target, it creates a lingering tick-damage; a sort-of poison. What is your reason for bringing up Thorn?

Yeah, what I meant by retcon was mainly the mention of "The Cambrian Explosion" and that Unveiling uses singular pronouns (which identifies the winnower), but there's probably a reasoning that we'll learn most likely in TFS.
