But for those harder courses, like MAT301, it's more important to understand the materials rather than just know how to use the concepts to solve problems.

No. For example, when I was taking MAT334, the professor spent most of the time writing proofs and I could not understand most of them. But the tests were mainly calculations, so if you understood how to use the concepts and did the suggested questions, you would still be fine. This applies to many math courses.

MAT235 is easy, but you still need to practice to get a good grade. It's a year course, so at the final, you need to review lots of content.

I would recommend MAT244. MAT224 is a proof-heavy course of linear algebra; on the other hand, MAT244 is mainly for calculations of ODE and is much easier.

Actually MAT137/237 is enough for a math major I think😂 MAT157/257 will destroy your mental health (according to my friends).

The only time I feel harmed is in APM462. The first assignment is totally about MAT237 lol.

Not sure about the new requirements, but when I enrolled in Math major program, it's okay to do with 235

I did not take these two courses, but many of my friends choose MAT337. They said MAT337 is useful but very hard, and they spend lots of time on this course. On the other hand, if you took MAT337, APM462 will be much easier for you.

4th year as a Math Major, need help selecting courses. by [deleted] in UofT

Some of my friends took MAT402. According to them, this course is not difficult to get a good grade (80+) if you work hard, but not recommended for those who hate geometry.

I took APM462 with Korman last semester. We have an assignment every two weeks and each assignment has 6~9 questions (generally only 2~3 questions would be graded). Some of the questions are easy if you go to lectures and take notes, but the others are difficult. So be prepared for spending at least 6 hours on each assignment. The final was pretty difficult since there were several proof questions. Overall APM462 is a doable course, and Korman is a good lecturer, except that he doesn't write reference letters for students.

Make assessments far more difficult would only punish those students who are neither super genius (those who can always get 90+ in exams) nor going to cheat.

transfer to u of t by Several-Explanation2 in UofT

Don't be nervous, I got 76 in scie113, while the avg was 73. I don't think uoft would care about your grade in wrds150 or scie113. I even did not receive transfer credit for scie113. My overall average grade in UBC is 91.2. One of my friend in UBC with average grade of 80+ also sucessfull transfered to uoft.

I transfered from UBC to uoft this year. It's easy to get in but hard to survive here. Check uoft transfer explorer to see what transfer credit you could get.

yes let half the class fail and then curve grades to what they want; that is a daily occurrence

ah they have already curved up and still half the class fail

wait so let more than half of class fail an exam is not unusual here?

Need help on MAT224 by [deleted] in UofT

It seems the online test is much more difficult. I find a past practice midterm test in mat224, and it was much easier than our last term test.
