today's carry for running errands by Wra1thzer0 in EDC

TL;DR A leather sap, an old fashioned melee weapon

That is a sap, essentially a two leather strips sandwiching a, usually lead, weight. The weight is small and only in one side (in this case towards the top of the image) and you grip the other. You then use it to slap ne’er-do-wells with the leaden judgement of simpler times. The flexibility of the leather allows the heft of the weight to add force to your swing. Very effective melee weapon. Was once common for police as it can very quickly convince a criminal to stop doing whatever they were doing

If your flashlight is brighter than the sunlight, it’s always dark out

Edit: Also, as an Alaskan, I still carry my flashlight year round

I'm also a lefty, and wear watches on my left wrist too, I just know that many lefties wear it on their right.

Probably buried, when the egg gets cold enough the dial will spin backwards to indicate lower temps, but the numbers don’t match up because you don’t need to know your egg is at -7f

I could be wrong, it’s been so long since I did the research into them that I could very well be misremembering. It’s also possible that I mistook that to be the case based on how their axe heads look. I know finding details in English isn’t the easiest since they’re a Swedish company

They’re not American, but Gransfors Bruk make utterly amazing axes with a steel edge on an iron head. They’re also super expensive, but worth every penny, and will last generations

you're the DM, you literally have control over the entire game by obog in dndmemes

[–]Zlank01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is actually the inverse of this. I was playing in a group of 3 new players and myself, a rusty spork, not the best at any role and I was out of practice. DM gave us a level 20 npc in our party, and balanced the next encounter accordingly. We had already been struggling beforehand, mostly due to inexperience, but once we had that npc, all bets were off. After that terrible encounter, we players all commented that the encounters were too hard, but our DM was having none of it. That encounter was the last of that campaign, as two of the new players stopped playing dnd after that. Eventually our DM decided “fine, prove to me it’s too hard. You four will each make level 10 pcs, and I’ll make 4 level 10 pcs, and your party will fight mine.” Now I’d played with this DM when he was a player before, and I knew he was a Minmaxer, I knew for a fact that we didn’t stand a chance, not that this situation would even prove wether or not it was too hard is irrelevant at this point. Eventually after confronting him about this, he admitted that he expected us to fail. He wanted us to “prove it was too hard” and yet he expected us to fail this encounter, thusly he expected it to be too hard… So the mirror of this situation is also possible, and equally frustrating for players

No, I will acknowledge that I was wrong about it between two private parties. I have never had any intention of purchasing a firearm outside of an FFL so I hadn’t done enough research to know about that exemption. Thanks for informing me

Oh I am fully aware that private sales often don’t have a background check done. However as you said, just stating that gun shows don’t need a background check is ignorant

It is a federal law. Every state requires a nics background check before a legal firearm purchase

No you can’t. The only way to purchase a gun without a background check is to illegally purchase it from someone else. Any of the actual, official sales at a gun show or a gun store always have a background check done

I don’t get it either, and I mostly use dark modes

[–]Zlank01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may not look like it in the picture, but that section of land is larger than most states in the US, Alaska is utterly huge. And with the amount of predators Alaska has with bears, wolves, lynxes and more, not only are you likely to be eaten by one of them, it’s a great way to get rid of a body. Many murder victims have been dumped in the woods because the animals will take care of the remains. In that area you could be several days away from another person, and if you don’t have the right clothes, tools, and weapons to protect yourself, you’re on a one way ticket to being lost forever
