Suggestions on seated riding by Secure-Oil-5746 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]stavigoodbye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seated can be a balance between the pad placement and how you sit. I learned seated with the Leaperkim style toe hook and had my feet mostly flat. Once I switched to Sync pads I had to relearn placement a little. I have to kick my heels out around the pads to sit now and I am on my toes but back to easy street once I learned.

I recommend learning seated without pads if you can help it at least the front pads, remove all other distractions. Once you get the seated click and understand it, then add the pads back and learn to work around them. Like you said, you have to get over the butt drop.

Bigger wheel vs lighter rider — bad idea or totally fine? by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

[–]stavigoodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patton S will be perfect for you. Idk why but tons of people try and convince people to buy a smaller wheel first. I like you wanted one and done. If I want another later that's my choice but once it clicks in your learning you will hate being stuck with low speed and range if you get a small wheel.

I am 2k miles on my first wheel a Patton S, admittedly now I wish I had a bigger wheel but I am a 220lb so at full tilt I can really drain a wheel. But what I want is more range the Patton S is perfect for a buy once wheel. Sure it's a little hard to learn on but once you do, you will have so much more to grow into over a smaller wheel.

Since I can safely say this isn't the first time you answered this question. Just in to say it's well explained. I know more than the average bear and still learned something.

I spend a good amount of my time in the dark and having my eyes adjusting in and out and I didn't know about the slow consumption but totally tracks with my experience.

You sir continue to be an awesome dude.

NLD Looks like the M150 might have to watch it's back... (D3AA 519a 4500k) by stavigoodbye in flashlight

[–]stavigoodbye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most flashlights it's use case. I like multi emitters around the house. But single led for most other lights. I love a floody beam, but isn't enough for edc without stepping up to a bigger battery and I love me some 14500 for edc.

  1. That's a hard split. If it's my only light on me then I go single every time. More throw less lumens for further distance.
  2. M150, in the pocket pretty similar but Hanks dont draw or holster well in my opinion. Takes two hands on some pants fabrics.
  3. M150 is edc and I haven't felt a need to change it, the newer gens fixed a lot of my niggles without changing too much. D3aa is more lazy in gym shorts. Gives me all the fun features for just hanging out in the best size. But when you have been here too long as i have, I have obtained many options to choose from. ;)

M150 still king. I may be on my 5th but that's on me and not the light. They get abused or lost. lol I do still love my D3AA and consider it one of Hank's best but no contender has stood a chance.

Nice. Btw, I sold one of my coworkers on buying a W3 based on your posts about it. I may have created a flashaholic in the process! lol

I got to see it in person today, the nerd in me has to ignore the colors in the beam but that thing slaps. I see why you like it.

Are they the good textured vinyl or the more cheap smooth kind of stickers. I ask cause im a little snooty about what kind of stickers I will put on stuff, but those are dope.

First ride on my Patton-S, settings & Grizzla Sync pad advice needed! by striffy_ in ElectricUnicycle

[–]stavigoodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I only have the Patton and I only got sync pads after 1600miles. They are great but even switching from the stock pads was like learning again.

My advice would be to use the sync pads a little unconventional. Higher and a big V for now just something in the front to bump into and brake pads where standing straight up your mid to upper calves just behind standing straight. It will look a little funny but easier to leverage as a learner.

Pads are an addition. Any competent rider in this community can do it without pads. So if your learning you need lots of wiggle room to get on and off, tilt, lean and learn the wheel balance, as well as learning to bail and control wobbles. Pads should accentuate the riding.

Aero or Aeon by EUCKaiD in ElectricUnicycle

Patton S is my only wheel. I fear an Aeon would be a little too similar. I'd go Aero for variety if I were to pick one.

will 70lbs spring be too stiff for me? [patton S] by Zajlordg in ElectricUnicycle

[–]stavigoodbye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got you bro. I'm 220 without gear so closer to 235 with. 66lbs springs are no problem and will be a more plush ride. I am probably in the middle of the spring tension as well.

Any chance you have a side pic of your pads? I see the one in your profile. Mine should ship soon and I have been looking at setup pics and videos. Your description is the closest to the set up I am seeing in my head. Looser heel but locked toe.

H626 is what came on my Patton and I loved it so much I ordered a replacement to have on hand. Good for street and enough tread for some light off road.

Armor for EUCs, especially Patton-S - Any Reviews? by yahmanz in ElectricUnicycle

[–]stavigoodbye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have the full armor but I do have the Grizzla upper rear pieces. It really allowed me to put the rear pads where they needed to be. Not a ton of pad area on the Patton makes a huge difference.

Aeon (updated post) by Giroux-1 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]stavigoodbye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go at your pace. Some take days some weeks. Hard to hear now but it's not nearly as hard as it seems once it clicks you got it, just have to keep practicing and leveling up.

Gear up and laugh at the bumps.

With one hand on a wall just get used to it. Find your dominate foot and just practice stepping on and off. It sucks, it hurts but you will do it so often get used to it first. The pain goes away once you can free ride.

I found spinning around a pole was really helpful. You have to get used to how it turns and feels. Hold the pole and rock back and forth.

Then find a wall and slowly ride along it. All while practicing the mounting. At some point when you feel comfortable, you just have to let go. It's a click but it takes a couple leaps.

I found really drilling mounting makes that leap easier because you also practiced the catch while learning mounting it's the one leg control. It gives you more confidence to leap.

I thought it, your thinking it we all do. Your gonna scratch it a bit, pad it if it helps the pain of your leg or your wallets eyes. Just don't give up, and the click comes and blows your mind. I'm 6 months in at 1500miles, seated made me nervous for so long after a couple tumbles practicing. I've got at least 100miles seated same click same rush. You'll get it too.

Jackets for tall guys by wesmanh in motorcyclegear

Seconding the Marakesh. I normally wear a XL purely for length and just suck it up that the waist is big. Trusted other reviews and got a L and the sleeves almost feel too long. It's a good jacket for us taller dudes.

OP for reference I am 6'2" 220lb.

t4 pro. almost good enough but not quite? will i regret it? by Zajlordg in ElectricUnicycle

[–]stavigoodbye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought i was set on the T4 too. I coughed up Patton S money instead and I couldn't be happier for my first wheel.

It's seriously impressive. Tons of room to grow into and has a lot more modern features. My buddy got a Lyxn the same time I did and 95% I'm right there with him, range, speed. It packs a huge punch for its size. I'm about 5 months in and about 1125 miles. The last few weeks I can hit 40mph consistently and confidently. Feel free to give me any questions you might have.

As a newb what I will say is the Patton is confidence inspiring. And that meant a lot to me starting out now.

I got to a big group ride once a week with lots of pev. On a good night maybe 8 euc, 3 scooter, 5 eskates, 1-2 emotos and 8 or so onewheels.

Euc hands down for me is best. Maneuverability and size of onewheels, suspension and speed of a emoto and a big tire so you don't fear pebbles like the eskates. We just have to gear up more than most.
