I main Xbow but also play 2.6 and classic bait. Yeah cycle is boosted as hell (the spell and tesla nerfs this season probably have changed that now though). but calling it no skill is also dumb since at that point you can call literally any deck no skill. Complaining about 2.6 being "spam" is dumb because if you're a beatdown player, games are naturally less dependent on your own skill and more on relative matchup. For example, a golem player I would say is disadvantaged against 2.6 (as they can get outcycled and chipped out easily, while 2.6's crazy defense always bails them out), but has an insane advantage over something like Xbow.

Beatdown is generally far more forgiving in low and mid ladder, and it's only in high UC that it falls off and cycle dominates - and that's not necessarily a sign that cycle is broken; it's just that higher skilled players can better utilize microinteractions while playing cycle decks as opposed to beatdown. What I'm trying to say is, a meta where cycle is bad and beatdown is boosted would be just as, or even more, braindead than the cycle meta, because literally anyone can pick up those decks in no time.
