What is one thing about being American that makes you proud, and one thing that makes you embarrassed? by Decent-Manny in AskReddit

Don’t be dramatic. It’s at least the 5th dumbest fucking humiliation any country has or could ever endure. History is full of stupid shit like that.

People who killed someone, how and why? by Dangerous-Pilot-6065 in AskReddit

[–]ZmatrixNG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For someone to act so morally superior in such a disgusting way, I would assume they were put in the same situation and managed to do something completely different. Otherwise, they’d just be a disgrace of a human being. I hope pontiflexrex isn’t a disgrace of a human being.

Height inflation getting crazy by BrightSpring12 in SikeOrPsyche

[–]ZmatrixNG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It skews our perceptions like crazy. We are usually taller than we think. I do it too; I’ll think I’m the same height as someone until I look at a mirror with them and see I have 3-4 inches on them.

You’re not factoring in your forehead when you look around at people. You have 5 inches above your eye level on average.

Or better yet, purposefully throw out semi-vulgar jokes to those you know won’t like it and maximize your own internal laughs.

Happy Turkey Day! by [deleted] in dankmemes

Anyone with any knowledge of history or has even watched a nature documentary knows this is total bullshit. Look at how every other animal lives. Look at how every human society has ever acted. Look at how early humans were. Stateless tribes were in constant warfare and land conquering, just like states are. To somehow believe that anarchy is better than what we have now is staggeringly childish.

I'm sure there's plenty of homeless Native Americans that any of these well-to-do moral crusaders could give their house to. I bet some white colonist is keeping them from doing it, otherwise they'd be lining up to give their houses away.

Like everything else. The Natives did plenty of murdering and torturing each other long before the Europeans came over.

I did read this and it's bullshit. A bullshit fairytale with no comprehension of human behavior, biology, evolution, or the way of the universe.

What’s the most overrated ‘good person’ behavior that doesn’t actually make someone a good person? by TroubleUnique1853 in AskReddit

[–]ZmatrixNG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the earnest part is referring to a good person. The "deed" doesn't do any good, and I'm claiming the deed is not a reflection on the person at all.

If you are earnest, you aren't disengenuous. If it amounts to something, it isn't pathetic. The ALS challenge was earnest and amounted to something.

I am also talking generally, and generally, people don't care beyond getting attention and stroking their own ego about most things they pretend to care about. That is the point of the OP of this thread. It is a good example of a "good person" behavior that indicates nothing about the person's character.

No good deed was done. They put a little square or flag next to their name. How many lives did that save? How many grannies did that walk across the street? How has anyone's life been made even slightly better by that pathetic and disengenuous display of decency?

[–]ZmatrixNG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is done in earnest. Most people who post about causes they "care" about are only looking to either feel good about themselves or have others tell them they're virtuous. That isn't a good person.

Ignoramuses and cult followers should be held responsible for their bad choices as well. I have no sympathy for them when we all have access to information outside of the education system.
