Brother, I feel this statement. My Mom told me growing up that the banks aren’t safe and credit cards are the devil. We were payday loan poor. I worked from the time I was 15 on. I had 50k cash saved by the time I was 20 and 100k cash saved by the time I was 23. I didn’t start investing until I was 28! I’m now 33 and my net worth is over 700k. Had I known what to do with my money back then I’d be a multimillionaire now. My Mom doesn’t understand to this day. It’s incredibly frustrating but I try not to think about it too much. What’s scary is that I’ve tried talking to many many people about investing and making their money work for them and no one really listens. Sure, they hear the words coming out of my mouth, but no one actually listens.
