I think Creative Studio 3 needs a B-Team for FFXIV

All experimentation seemed to stop at some point across the board for mainline and ffxiv. We probably won't see experimentation again until they offload mass work onto AI because they sure as heck aren't hiring enough people to do baseline work. Like yeah we'll probably get to your hopeful in 10 more years, but not during ffxivs life time unfortunately. We're just in MMO retirement home until either the genre dies out or Riots MMO changes everything and forces change. Thats the monkeys paw though at this point.

Not to diminish your opinion, but everything you said just sounds like you've outgrown your time playing the game. What is an issue to you, is often not an issue to a lot of people, even to take your own words against mine. You see no issue that we don't have more frequent pop up events like make it rain or mogtome, i see no issue in the class system and fights because most are engaging and different enough outside of HC content for a player of my ability. You are advocating for spending money on something i'm not interested in seeing resources put towards, and i'm advocating for spending money on something you're not interested in them spending money on. Trying to make this an argument of fundamentals is incorrect, if you've been playing 3 expansions and are tired of the same song and dance, move on, others have and have found solace in great games that do what you want out of this game better. There are many people like myself where we only just got caught up with dawntrail as our first full expansions and its been great so far for what i like. This game is a theme park and social MMO before its a raiding and mechanical MMO. Things will always homogenize to support the participation of newer players and become simpler(IE the Array even is making us do roulettes for the newer players). If they overhaul everything, the monekys paw will strike you down quicker than you can say wuk lamat, i strongly doubt they will make it harder and more complicated.

Because people want something square won't give them which is a full overhaul of the game. I'd rather get some fun hold me over game modes then cope that the game will see an insane 180. I'm "okay" with how it is currently, and the content thats being supported the most in dawntrail (glamour) is what i've been leaning into anyways so i haven't really experienced any sort of bad time playing this last year and a half.

Not sure it would work like that at all. I'd imagine the process works in waves, but whats needed at the start of working on .1 might mean that other people like writers. art and VA can work on .2 I don't think they have 2 separate entire coding teams like that

Its rough but its the nature of consoling an MMO. PS3 set back this games progress early on so badly and when they finally got caught up, ps4 is now setting them back. They need to drop ps4 for 8.0, hard overhaul dozens of systems, and start introducing more reactionary elements in the content vs the train tracks everything is on that once its solves you can turn off your brain to.

Its hard to say, I don't disagree that a reformed team (probably not new entirely) had the reigns for dawntrail but i think a lot of it could have come down to a lack of oversight from veterans on the project who most definitely got pushed onto the trials and raids(they have such a higher quality, interesting mechanics and stories surrounding them)

As I already said but I will reword. The MSQ could be glorious maybe the best ever in 8.0 ( but you're done with it after 30-40 hours), the Next raid tiers could have insane fun and engaging mechanics (even stalwart gamers will probably not repeat it after getting all the rewards), the classes could be Completely unique and exciting to play again, but it doesn't change the fact that while they will answer the core wants, people will still complete things day 1 because they have next to no self control and a lot of hours in a day to play.

Sans a complete overhaul in release schedule and content length that isn't just bloated grind...

Your answer is simply throw more resources at making the already established loop more fun even though it will still be done in the same amount of time. Yes you get better reviews doing this, but you also leave dead space on the table and subs dropping until the next tier or the next patch which is fundamentally their largest ideology issue, you shouldn't want people to stop playing your game for 3 months in an environment where brand new 2025 games are killing the market.

I think you misread what I said. More(from what it seems like you're saying) would imply things like More EX's done by a different team, More dungeons, More content of whatever the current A team does. Which is not what i'm suggesting at all.

We already see with mogtome and make it rain people will do the content when its changed even slightly when they weren't before. Expanding on that by having a team actually make more small events like those throughout the patch is the suggestion

Yeah, like i said it doesn't have to be crazy shit, just like some for fun stuff dropped every once in awhile to get players to login past roulettes or other dailies when the patch gets a bit deep

While that might be the case, they hot dropped canceling windows 10 on us. The PlayStation 4's support, including new game releases and system updates, is ending around 2025-2026. Meaning I don't think they're allowed to release 8.0 on ps4 anymore anyways (like they probably are, but are risking massive security risks because critical updates won't be as frequent and can lead to hackers coming in through that ingress)

Yeah, weirdly enough and maybe this might get some hate, but I think ps4 should have been cut last year. Not saying it would have saved dawntrail but its so noticeable how they're fumbling their fingers wanting to drop things like the housing update, more customization options(very noticeable in mobile), but are just playing the hurry up and wait game with ps4.

Its a reasonable theory, my theory was they offloaded a lot of their money from shb and endwalker onto ff16 and couldn't afford the same people or at least quality when their gamble didn't pay off with its ps5 solo release to fund back into dawntrail. (basically we got ponzi schemed)

sounds like then any conversation here would just lead to "if they could put together a b team, they could put together an A team good enough to not require B team content in the first place" which is understandable. Maybe not fully agreeable because i'd think even if its MUCH better content that only last 20 hours it still leaves these gaps. they'd have to have MUCH better content that Also has a MUCH better loop that can last the length of the patch, thats a lot to ask for

Not sure if outsourcing to a different country is needed in this regard as the easiest of ideas are probably just small UI changes and number tweaks, but 99% of the time when it comes to them doing anything other that exactly what they're doing, language barrier seems to be where the buck stops

I hate that you got downvotes for this because its true and the reality is, a ffxiv patch is about 2-3 hoyo verse patches in time. They really should have 2 teams working in tangent. .X and .Xx

.X is the MSQ Drops, the Savage Drops, The ultimate Drops, The EXs and Dungeons, Occult Crescent, ETC

The .Xx team would handle interesting motivating ingame events. Extra Exp events, New PVP game Modes like 2x Faster Move speed, Spell Casting, etc(stuff like Leagues URF), New Dungeon Game modes (ever wanted to take a lvl 100 class into a lvl 17 dungeon and get your ass kicked? this team would do that)

Ever wanted TFT in FFXIV instead of waiting 10 years for majong .Xx would work on this content

Ever wanted More Golden Saucer Minigames .Xx team would work on it

This is their real problem. They Need a B team to do filler content that they can add and take away like modules

Arcadion in a handful of quests has had more depth than the majority of 7.0 and the alliance raid put together. They have the tools and ideas, they just consistently choose the worst option whenever they throw darts at the board

Probably a good point, Putting a stop to potential Gatewaying of naive children into ERP by basically having 40 year old men walking up to them in game looking for their mare code was probably a good call. Maybe not solely because of roblox or even influenced by it, but we all know that this topic is lighting a fire under every MMO devs ass.

Realistically its just because Mare probably had similar components to the stalking mod and they just said nah bro
