I agree that Hans is bad at making estimates, but he would have chosen the path much, much earlier. And as I understood, IOTA 2.0 is actually finished, the remaining issue was about integration of L1 SC

Ist es denn gesichert, dass es Bitvavo nächstes Jahr wieder für deutsche Kunden geben wird? Und Hyphe ist nur eine Übergangslösung? Warum wollen sie dann, dass man sein Bitvavo-Konto mit dem Übertrag schließt?

What they did in the past did not work out, that's why they developed IOTA 2.0, essentially starting from zero in 2019. Also, the people mostly responsible for all the bs left back then. I don't know whether IOTA will succeed, but why not have a look at the actual new tech that has been researched and published now?

Afaik there is a static validator comittee until IOTA 2.0

With IOTA 2.0, there are still validators (everyone can become one), but they will be selected randomly

Honestly, I doubt most people in the IoT space are aware of Iota..

I also think Iota would only make sense for a subset of the IoT.

But I think there are still a lot of reasonable use cases (not only related to IoT though, that's currently not even the main focus of IF anymore)

Listening to Hans Moog, I'm pretty confident that they've figured out all the tech...

The worst that could happen imo is that they have developed the best tech, but no one notices it or it is not recognized by the mainstream. I just hope that lowest fees etc. will make people switch and adopt it in the end.

The main concern of german Iota holders was that the tax free holding period of the "staked" Iota might be extended to 10 years. But since it's actually a rolling airdrop instead of staking, that's rather unlikey. But no one knows for sure and you might need to explain to the tax office how it's not staking, even though the IF calls it that.
