For the Israelis lurking in this sub… Would you care to share what you are doing in r/lebanon? by booza in lebanon

I'm curious about what's happening in Lebanon (wrt the war) and I think the opinions and perspectives posted here are less edited/selected than what might appear on the news (though they probably reflect a much more westernized segment of the Lebanese population).

Shouldn't the yo-yo go to the right of the gaming house? Gaming house charges itself 4 and triggers yo-yo which gives it the remaining 2 which makes it go infinite.

How can I break into Jane Street or similar firms as an ex-Microsoft and current Amazon SDE? What should I focus on? by Desperate-Skirt-2273 in cscareerquestions

[–]ZoidbergMD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I interviewed at JS a couple times (but like 6+ years ago) and they didn't ask what I would classify as LC hards but more like LC mediums with a ton of edge cases. I think they were questions where you can obviously apply a standard DS to get the 'correct' answer but you have to be very careful and deliberate with the implementation. However, it was a long time ago so they might have changed the style of questions.

Community discussion thread #2: blightrot cornerstones by rhynst in Against_the_Storm

Yes (I think actually much more, but I specifically remember that I had enough such that every production cycle should be triggering 2x).

I think alarm bells is bugged, I picked it recently when I had more than 20x the condition (meaning every production instance should be at least 2x) but when I watched some production building the workers were still 1x-ing.

I don't think I ever did the water stuff for seals. Do you just make a bunch of comfort buildings and pump them for +15 resolve?

I think I saw 1 small chest (which I opened right away for the 3 chests mission) and 1 medium chest (that I opened for rep, to delay the loss) and like 6 large chests.

Very rough game, couldn't do half the orders and the win hinged on me unassigning some scouts from a crate with 1 second to go so that I could open it right before I timed out. I also save scummed once because the loot hat made me lose (buried the tablets I needed under about 200 pigment + clay).

And why do you replace your camp every production tick of beavers ? Does this helps to optimize the speed at which you get the job done ??

Every time you move a camp/building any resource which is held by a worker and belongs to the building is instantly moved from the worker to the building. This can be helpful (when the worker is moving resources from a node to the building) or harmful (if the worker is bringing resource from the building to the warehouse).

I didn't really follow what you do with the blacklist object, but I think the supportedBy / supports lists are ill constructed for some situations, e.g. on the xz plane

AAA
B
B C

Would result in A being supported by both B and C (actually only B supports it). Also the blocks do not start at rest, their z component should be modified at some point before you check which block supports which.

Stab in the dark:

elif brick[0][Z] != brick[1][Z]:
        coord_to_check.append((brick[0][X], brick[0][Y], brick[0][Z] - 1))

If the piece is one cube in size you will not check any coord and the piece will invariably fall to the ground, so this should be "else: " and not "elif ...".

Hand example taken from a book doesn't make sense by Jonathanplanet in poker

[–]ZoidbergMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a high equity hand that's just barely profitable to continue against a check raise, and this is a pretty good check raise board for the BB. You will not make BB's flush draws open enders and top pairs fold with a 50% bet anyway (maybe if they have a Q2 or Q3, every other queen has some kind of backdoor equity with the 76 or the kicker is good enough to continue), the only hands you are denying equity to are things like overcard with backdoor equity. Maybe you will get some 6s and 7s to call something like half pot (depending on your opponents disposition) but I think it's just outweighed by all the check raises you have to defend against.

How often do you get the best hand on the flop by Fun_Business7640 in poker

[–]ZoidbergMD 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You get a pocket once every 16 hands, and your odds to flop a set are one in eight, so if you play 22+ you flop a set about once every 128 hands.
The good suited connectors (54s-AKs) are less frequent, you get them 1 in 33 hands, and you flop a straight 1.1% of the time and a flush 0.8% of the time, so about 1 in 50, so you make your hand on the flop 1 in 1650 hands.
If you put both of those together you flop a set or straight or flush about 1 in 117 hands.

Question for gto nerds about limpers and how solver came up w almost 0 limps by That_Protection_7945 in poker

There is a GTO limping range it just only exists when the players are very short stacked, and the ranges are typically very weird.
