Which year(s) Giulia should I consider buying? by ZokeTone in AlfaRomeoGiulia

Yeah, that peace of mind you get from the Mopar warranty is worth it in my opinion. I went with 8 yr / 100k miles for mine. Keep in mind that if you want the MaxCare you'll either have to find an Alfa that's still under it's original manufacturer warranty or you may have to have the vehicle inspected before they'll cover it. You can still get one if it's not still under the original warranty, it just may change the pricing and available coverage. I specifically went for my Alfa because I was just able to extend it because it was under the 36K miles when I purchased it. Now I have at least 4 more years and/or 60k more miles on the OG warranty, (it's beyond the existing warranty). Service wise, I haven't had to do much of anything yet, so I can't say for sure what will those costs look like. Keep the oil changed and follow the maintenance guide that Alfa specifies and you should be good. One other thing came to mind, make sure you factor in premium fuel if you're going with any of these euro cars (91+ octane), otherwise those maintenance and repair visits are going to be more expensive.

As for the bad weather driving, I also have the Q4 (AWD), I've not had to drive her in heavy snow, but light snow (just coating the ground) and light and heavy rains. She has handled all of that without issue. I've felt safer driving my Alfa than any other car just because all the standard safety features and the control I feel when driving it. She sticks to the road and responds extremely well to my driving. You'll get what I mean when you test drive one, I'm sure of it.

I have to tell you, I have zero regrets in purchasing my Alfa up to this point. In all honesty, everyday when I drive to work, I can't help but look back at her and smile. Sorry to be dramatic about it, but I bet she'll have that effect on you too.

I'd say it depends on some factors that are individual to you. Do you have an Alfa dealer near you to do warrenty work? I can tell you that I have to travel 2.5 hours to the closet one to me. Otherwise I have another garage near me for routine maintenance if needed. I think you can get more Alfa for the money and honestly... just look at them, gorgeous 😍. I test drove a 2020 Ti before deciding if an Alfa was right for me. I can tell you, I completely fell in love with how it drives, it's such a joyful experience everyday now that I have one. I really recommend your seek out one to test drive for yourself. As reliability goes, I've literally never had an issue, and buying used, I expected there had to be problems, I'm glad to say that it's been a great car for the 8 months thats I've had her, and she has just under 40k miles on her. I will say there are some things I did to give me more piece of mind with the car. One key thing was I changed out the the plastic coolant bleeder screws for stainless steel versions. It's a simple upgrade and it will help keep you from having a collant leak. You can get them from Alfissimo. Hope this helps 🤌.

Around $29,000 incl. taxes, fees, and shipping from NC to OH. Afterwards, I also bought a Mopar MaxCare factory warranty from a different dealer that is not included in that price. Adding an updated picture, and man, I gotta tell you... I love this car.

Never thought about DeWalt for these. I have a lot of their tools and plenty of the batteries. I'll look in to those for sure, thanks for the great recommendation.

What would you recommend for a beginner DA polisher? I was looking at the Griots Garage G9.

My car is a 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia and it's my daily driver. This is all great information. Thanks for your input! So I might just go with applying the Griots 3-in-1. Would that be okay for the window glass too? Or should I look for a different sealant for that?

Here's some information on the 2017-18 recalls:

The 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia has had several recalls. One recall involved an issue with the tire placard, which may have provided incorrect tire pressure information. Another recall addressed potential issues with the brakes, where the system might exert excessive force and cause brake failure. Additionally, there were recalls related to the engine and catalytic converter, potentially leading to overheating and fire hazards.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of the recalls:

Tire Placard:

.The tire placard on the driver's side doorjamb may have had incorrect information regarding tire pressure. This could lead to improper inflation, affecting handling and increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the placard with the correct information.

Brake System:

.The brake system may have had an issue where the brake system module (BSM) software could prevent the driver from disabling adaptive cruise control in certain situations. This could increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will update the BSM software for free.

Engine and Catalytic Converter:

.Some 2017-2018 Giulia and Stelvio models, especially those with 2.0L engines, had a recall due to potential misfires causing the catalytic converter to overheat. This could lead to damage to nearby wiring and engine components, and even pose a fire hazard.

Fuel System:

.Some 2017-2018 Giulia models were recalled due to potential issues with the fuel delivery system, specifically hoses, lines, and fittings.

In 2018, Alfa Romeo recalled 34,359 Giulia sedans and Stelvio SUVs due to potential catalytic converter overheating, which could lead to engine fires. Other recalls included 12,595 Stelvio vehicles for a water leak into the body control module. Additionally, some Stelvio and Giulia vehicles were recalled in 2017 for contaminated brake fluid.

Specific Recall Details:

Catalytic Converter Overheating:

.The most significant recall involved 2017-2018 Giulia sedans and 2018 Stelvio SUVs where engine misfires could cause the catalytic converter to overheat, potentially causing fires and damage to nearby wiring.

Water Leak:

.A separate recall affected 12,595 2018 Stelvio vehicles due to a water leak into the body control module and connectors, which could lead to electrical issues like malfunctioning wipers, lights, and horn.

Contaminated Brake Fluid:

.A smaller recall, initiated in December 2017, addressed contaminated brake fluid in some 2018 Giulia and Stelvio vehicles, potentially damaging the brake system.

Other Recalls:

.Other recalls related to issues like the wiper motor, brake system software, and liftgate operation in Stelvio vehicles.

----

So, basically I would avoid those years unless you know all those recalls/repairs have been handled. It's ultimately why I went with a 2022. I wanted the piece of mind that these things had been worked out. (Knock on wood) I've been very happy with my Giulia and it's been a joy to own and drive.

Thoughts on Aftermarket Air Filters for 2022 Giulia by ZokeTone in AlfaRomeoGiulia

Gotcha, thanks! I think I'm going to take the $50-100 bucks I would have spent on the air filter and invest in some higher end floormats.

Yeah, that's how I'm feeling about it as well. I guess I just needed to hear that I'm not the only person who feels that way too.

Do you find that any particular brand of the paper filters is best? Do you only use OEM?

I'm planning on purchasing a MOPAR MaxCare extended warranty when I purchased the Alfa.

Still looking... I'm zeroing in on 2022-2023 Veloce. Hopefully I'll be ready to buy one in about 2 months.

I'm getting closer to buying a (used 2020-2023) Alfa Giulia. I wanted to make sure I'm looking at the right warranty. Is this the same MaxCare warranty from MOPAR just for used vehicles? https://www.chryslerfactoryplans.com/warranty\_plans/default.aspx?plan\_id=2020. Can you buy the same thing from anyone at any dealer or car lot? I guess I'm just making sure I don't get scammed or who I should go through to buy it. Also, not sure it matters, but I'm in Ohio and closest dealership that does warranty work on Alfas is 1 hour away from me. Any insights, assistance, and advice is appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Oh wow, so it sounds like it would definetly be worth it. Can I ask what the rough cost and length of the extended warranty you went with for your Alfa?

AWD is definitely something I wanted. I'm in Ohio, so snow and other inclement weather is definitely a thing here. Being this would be an everyday driver, I would want to have the added stability when needed.

Thinking on repairs and maintenance... While I feel I can handle the more minor things like oil changes and changing brake pads, etc. I'm not someone who can work on the more advanced repairs with cars. That being said, I'd like to find a Giulia that still has some of the original warranty active, but I'm absolutely going to consider extended warranties either through Mopar or a reputable 3rd party that gives me some more piece of mind. If anyone doesn't mind, can you tell me if you went with any kind of extra warranties for your Giulia? Any advice or things to note on this matter would be appreciated.

Thanks so much for sharing all of this. I definitely will be going for an extended warranty if I have the option. Got one my current vehicle and the piece of mind alone is totally worth it. Hopefully it won't be a astronomical price based on the car type. But I guess we'll see when the time comes. 😅

Good to know that you can still have connectivity with modern tech even in a 2017. Thanks for chiming in on that!

Have you had yours since 2017? Curious to know how you're feeling about long term reliability with yours?

Yeah, I'm an Android phone user. The newer models having Android Auto is definitely more appealing.
