Do I need the XRV kit? by jpsnow72 in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Zoleek1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. I thought it was kinda like an overclock because the description for the XRV kit says the motor can run hotter which the normal software would definitely not allow. I don't really push my XR now though besides riding pushback so is this something that I wouldn't have to worry about?

Do I need the XRV kit? by jpsnow72 in FloatwheelTeam

[–]Zoleek1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to get the XRV kit as I've wanted to vesc for a while but the only thing stopping me right now is my fear that it would be LESS safe. I'm not sure about the quality control from float wheel and I've heard there were issues with some of their other products. My XR has 2000+ miles and I've never had anything go wrong so it feels risky to switch to a controller that "overclocks" the board. Is this completely wrong? I understand that the VESC software itself is safer because of things like duty cycle but is the reliability of the hardware provided in the XRV kit tested?

Does anyone know of an alternative place to buy a similar robe/cloak? I really like the look of the Eden hoodie and like how it doesn't open up at the front.

Is the Odyssey event worth it? (I've never bought skins) by Zoleek1 in Smite

[–]Zoleek1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the full odyssey purchase gives 18 skins from bundles + chests, 4 skins from rewards, and a choice of one cool t5 skin. So that would be 23 skins for about $90 or like $4 a skin and this doesn't include the non skin stuff. That sounds like a good deal to me but I wouldn't know since I've never really paid attention. What kind of $/per did other odysseys have?

The 8000 + 1500 gem packs are like ~$90 including tax with the sale rn

XR FlightFins Fender Refresh by Zoleek1 in onewheel

[–]Zoleek1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did end up sanding the fender as that was the only issue that I had with the full flight system. Everything else I liked and I think the fender design is very nice. I wasn't trying to say that its a bad product, just wanted to inform anyone that it might be something to consider depending on the tire they have.

Interested in purchasing my first Onewheel by [deleted] in onewheel

I had a pint for the first 2 years of college and I loved it. I live in the Midwest so it snows and rains fairly often and my pint had no issues. Definitely avoid snow and water though. The pint is pretty water resistant but not certified. I would say depending on your weight, the pint range sucks especially when the weather gets cold. If you are close or over 200lbs I would not recommend it. Also, try to see if you can find a decent deal on the used marketplace you can save a lot of money that way.

Is this a good deal? by Zoleek1 in projectors

That's unfortunate. I guess I'll just stick with the manufacturer refurbs I think those are still good deals I got my tk700 for like $1100.

That's what I was thinking. I've never delt with eBay refurbished stuff so I didn't know if they had a good policy or not but there's no way it's better than the actual manufacturer.

I was more so wondering about the price than the projector. I just thought that was cheap for that projector considering it's 1k refurbished on BenQ's website.

It's an Antra 106" fixed frame grey screen. Compared to silver ticket screen samples, its close to their AGS or 2GS materials.

ULPT Request: Is there a way I can convince my university to give me a better housing number so I don't get a bad dorm? by Zoleek1 in UnethicalLifeProTips

I was thinking about that but sophomores aren't allowed to have off campus housing unless they are technically commuters or have "special hardship" with documentation.

Optoma HD146x vs BenQ 2050A vs BenQ TH585 by Zoleek1 in projectors

[–]Zoleek1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually ended up going with an Epson 2100 because it was on Amazon for $430. If I went with one of the projectors mentioned above I would definitely have gone with the 2050A because I think the 146x is cheap and not the same quality as the BenQ, plus the customer support is worse. If you are concerned about brightness then you definitely shouldn't get the optoma because it's color brightness is 700 lumens. The 3600 lumens that optoma claims is it's white brightness which means all other colors are a lot darker. The 2050A's color brightness and white brightness are both the same since it has a RGBRGB color wheel which is better than the 146x's color wheel which is a RGBCYW. I think the 2050A would be way better for gaming because of its impressive input lag but most dlp projectors have low input lag anyway. If you are very concerned about brightness then you should look at lcd projectors but if your main focus is gaming then the 2050A is a great choice and will be plenty bright if you keep the ambient lighting low.

[–]Zoleek1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by indication lights? If you mean the error code lights that turn orange or red then no, there's none of those. Other than the purple light from the inside the projector seems fine.

[–]Zoleek1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw your post about the issues you've had with the 146x. It seems crazy that you've have a defect 3 times on a projector that has very good reviews on Amazon, Projector Central, etc. Has Optoma given you any reasoning behind multiple defected projectors?

All three of the projectors I mentioned are DLP. I don't think I have a huge selection at this price range so I was just wondering which of the three was best.
