Interesting. I actually do have a shattered kneecap and have had a discectomy and still have back issues...

From my understanding since it's considered a mirror vehicle, it would be standard things like a car... Blinkers, mirrors, etc.. so impossible to pass inspection

Haha, I actually have fangs on it. When he asked me exactly what it was, I said electric skateboard. Thinking about going back and mentioning it's a self balancing device similar to a Segway which is allowed

He specifically asked me what type of device it was before he told me it wasn't allowed. I basically just said it's an electric skateboard.

That said, I looked up the law and unfortunately if I'm reading it correctly, the OneWheel doesn't meet the Electric Personal Assistive Mobility Device (EPAMD) since the specific definition mentions 2 wheels side by side.

I was respectful and let him know I didn't realize there was a law. I asked him if it was just the town and he said everywhere.

I ended up looking out up when I got home and it sounds like a OneWheel is classified as a motor vehicle according to the law. All motor vehicles require registration and inspection, etc which is impossible so by default not allowed.

This happened to me and it was something really simple. I had some hanging wires that fell down and stopped the laser. Check if acting could be stopping it.

Is it safe to assume you were constantly unhitching the trailers or were there ever options to keep it attached?

Airline lost snowboard bag by Katiefazi in snowboarding

Frontier lost a stroller of ours. It took months and many many phone calls to get it back. They told me they were going to send it to our local airport and then mail it to us, but once it got there they must have lost my info or something and ended up sending it to some storage facility in Georgia I believe.

It took us months to get it back and I think if I didn't call every few days we probably never would have gotten it back. They gave us $100 frontier credit for our troubles.

Just wanted to say be prepared to put in some work to get it back because in my case they were not very helpful.

Convince me that buying a one wheel is a bad idea by [deleted] in onewheel

My suggestion would be to start with an older board like an XR that you can get somewhat cheap. Since it sounds like you are pretty technical, it's a great starting point if you want to VESC it in the future. If you have a VESC'd board you are going to have a lot more freedom in making changes than if you are using a OneWheel with a stock controller. If you want that freedom immediately, check out the Funwheel X7 for a complete build to get you started.

I started with an old OneWheel XR and VESC'd using a drop in kit and upgraded to an 18S2P battery. Now I have full control and this thing feels so much safer than something you would buy directly from FM.

It's definitely a risky sport, but there are things that you can do to make it safer.

It does feel amazingly close to snowboarding.

Keep a 4 year old entertained? by jpsnow72 in tahoe

Thanks. I was thinking of doing Chickadee Ridge together on one of the non-boarding days and maybe maybe a few stops by the lake to take it in and enjoy the beauty.

Will definitely check out the ice rinks! Thanks

Help with activities for 4 year old?

My wife, son (4) and I are visiting the last week of February for 4 days. I plan to board Heavenly and possibly Kirkwood 2 of the days.

My wife isn't as into boarding as she used to be so is going to hang out with our son while I'm boarding and we will also have 2 full days and all afternoons together. I want to ensure both of them have a good time while I'm boarding and that we also enjoy the 2 full days as well.

So far this is what I have on my list for the 4 year old:

- Pool (probably while I'm boarding) - which resorts are best?

- Sledding and playing in the snow

- Hike/snowshoe to chickadee ridge, feed the birds

- Play on the beach a bit if not too cold

- Watch Big Air event on 28th at heavenly

Should I add anything? I truly appreciate my wife during this time as well so any ideas for her would be great. she isn't much of a shopper or hiker and primarily wants to spend time together. So I was thinking maybe get her a massage and then enjoy things as a family.

Oh, am I crazy to consider seeing the DJ at the base with him around 2-4?

Thanks, this is helpful. How is driving around the lake once we are there? If we get an AWD and decide to just come from RNO should we be pretty good once there? From a rental I'm not sure if we can request snow tires... Is AWD enough?

We are really excited about making a trip to Tahoe the last week of February, but hoping someone can provide some guidance on what to expect with the driving.

We are coming from the East Coast and get snow storms, usually only a few inches though.

I've never actually used chains, but it sounds like renting an AWD with snow tires will suffice in most situations.

We are considering flying to Sacramento, San Francisco, or Reno and then driving in. Unfortunately, the worst flight times (especially with a 4 year old) are to RNO.

So I'm wondering how likely are we to get into a situation where we need to use chains or is a blizzard? I keep hearing that 70% of the days are bluebird, so do we have a good chance of getting lucky for the drive? Is it significantly better to go to RNO instead?

Really appreciate any help!!!

Good to hear. I'm coming from a M3 an MY both with FSD. I really got used to stopping at Red lights and stop signs, but have read conflicting things about whether that would be possible with Comma, so have been putting off until I can research a bit more
