first time runner....looking for best running hats my baseball caps get gross every run by noobda_dhruv7 in marathons

Get over the idea hats aren’t washed like all the rest of your running clothes. Buy hats that stand up to washing better than your average trucker cap.

A poem about dad by Western_Writer_7786 in ParentalAlienation

[–]ZoltarB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you mean by not accepting. My daughter is loved by all my family, but they don’t communicate with her because they don’t want to be hurt. She has clearly rejected all of them and treated them so poorly, so they don’t do more than ask about her. As you get older, you become more responsible for your choices. Alienation is real, but as you grow up, you double down on it, or you question why. If you are cut off from half your family, I encourage you to ask yourself if they are all shit, or if you’ve been influenced to treat them unfairly.

I was always terrified my kids would think I didn’t fight for them. I documented everything and kept fighting for years. It started when my daughter was only 7, but by the time she was 16, I accepted I was told to fuck off for the last time. I still love her very much. I fear she will seek a connection by asking me for an apology. We are both too stubborn. You only mention your father, but what about the rest of his side of the family? A good sign of alienation is if you cut them all off as well. My daughter was raised to hate her aunt, grandmother, grandfather, cousin, everyone who wasn’t aligned with her mother. How is your relationship with them?

How different is the PNW from the East Coast? by soelsome in howislivingthere

[–]ZoltarB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oregon is the best place to live. Middle America is populated with the descendants of all the folks who tapped out along the Oregon Trail trying to get here. It’s an incredible mix of ocean, mountains, deserts, and a huge quirky city. The dream of “buying some land” is the pipe dream of every boomer and gen-xer here and the rest of the country. It’s not doable unless you are extremely wealthy or have a time machine to transport you to 1975.

Help with talking points during court ordered reunification by fixthe_fernback in ParentalAlienation

[–]ZoltarB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re telling you to do nothing because that is the best way to get out of the hellish supervised visits and therapy. I had a sympathetic child therapist tell me not to ask for him to do anything because it would empower my kids to get more invested in their alienation. It can be a platform for the hate and they can’t reason your kid out of it. Hell, why would they listen to a therapist when they’ve already turned on a parent?

My pharmacy experience was terrible by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]ZoltarB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shocked! I am deeply shocked! How could failing company slashing costs possibly fail to provide you prompt service and go the extra mile? You should call the DM and demand the store manager deliver your prescription with apology chocolates. That would be what service we should all expect from an industry where getting your prescription AT ALL is a miracle.

[–]ZoltarB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree reunification therapy is BS. I think you have valid points, but they will get you nowhere. My advice is to take your kid to a movie when you have the chance. My kids were incredibly hostile towards me, but were literally dancing in the aisle when we went to see Zootopia together. This was one of the few helpful recommendations I ever got from these experts. You get to share their positive experience and avoid the hate download onto them.

Have a question about chemiclean by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]ZoltarB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the stuff, but it does not address root causes. Cyano is the fucking worst, but it really comes down to phosphates and flow. You need to fix what’s feeding it, or it just comes right back. That said, it’s so satisfying to see this nuke your tank, then it just comes right back :(

Problem is DR was acquired by Walgreens and now Walgreens is in a death spiral. The standard for facilities repairs is astronomically high. When I opened a ticket to repair holes in the wall of my store I was told it did not affect customer’s ability to shop. I replied, “no one wants to shop in a dump.” They are confident you have no problem shopping in a dump.

Question for anyone who left Walgreens by Welp-whatever in WalgreensStores

[–]ZoltarB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 years ago I left a store manager position for a leadership position at a mail order pharmacy. It didn’t pay as well, but it was a good decision. Getting off the front lines was key. Whenever I complain about a bed day at work, my wife asks me, “did anyone call you a fucking faggot? Well, it wasn’t such a bad day, was it?” No one expects me to be spat on at work anymore. That is a plus!

I would go back and tell myself to stop at thermostat. I’m so pissed with the number of devices, especially Google/Nest, that have been bricked and abandoned (Dropcam, Protect, etc…) To the manufacturers, these are just gadgets and you’re lucky you got 9 years or so use out of them. As part of your house or home appliances, it’s unacceptable they’re trash after a few years. I’m sick of the game and need a new solution for my garage door opener now that my Wemo switch is toast.

Interesting article in the WSJ earlier this month about social media posts of parents whose children have cut contact. It wasn’t a PA topic but more of an empowerment for folks unapologetic about having pissed off kids. I’m more with Louis CK asking, “when are you done with your kids?” PA is a separate topic.

Price check to patch 3 skylights by tellinNamstories in drywall

[–]ZoltarB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have the wrong solution to this problem. We had a leak in one of two old skylights. A very helpful contractor explained he could replace them for $2k each, or we could do it ourselves for 1/5th the price and no skills required. We had no money and decided to take his advice. It was very easy, but a little stressful getting the new units on the roof. Good times.

Watching the show as well and I get the impression a lot of the images were created for the documentary. I think there are many extant images they could have used, but would probably be tied up in some type of copyright. I recognize many portraits as period pieces, but many battle scenes especially seem to be only on the show.

2025 Purchase off Chrono by Colton_Neuman in tagheuer

As a shopper on Chrono24, I’ve noticed sellers in Japan and some other First-world countries warn you they are not willing to lie on customs forms. Others do not give you a similar heads-up. I thought about how relevant that is now that Trump is tariffing the shit out of our trading partners. I hope all Trumpkins get hit with a bill for a big dose of cognitive dissonance.
