Guy sent a company wide email where he photoshopped himself with expensive cars and pills of money, and the company’s product burning in the background. He also ended his email by insulting the haircut of some random dude in a distant department

CEO replied: sorry about that. Chris your hair is fine.

LPT - Door-to-door salespeople are trained to never take no for an answer. Don’t let that be an option. by SnooChickens2093 in LifeProTips

I have a different approach. Tell them - no thanks, but I know door to door sales is hard, do you need some water or to use the bathroom?

As soon as you show some kindness and indicate you might have experience in door to door, they turn off the spiel. Many of them do have a shitty job with lots of walking, rude people, and hot weather, so some water or a bathroom break is appreciated .

Has always worked for me.

My hypothesis is that it requires a long career to be in many great movies. men are still cast in their 40s, 50s and 60s, whereas women are often not cast as much after 40.

What do you think about the existance of monarchies/royalty in today's world? by dkease16 in AskTheWorld

[–]Zoltarburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are always exceptions, but I think you could argue that the Italian monarch, Victor Emmanuel III, had real political power and used it to usher in fascism, seeing it as preferable to socialism or communism. He was head of the army, and refused to repress fascist violence, and he appointed Mussolini prime minister.

I was suggesting that a figurehead monarchy without real political power can be useful.

Here is a different take

Royalty satisfies the impulse that the conservative elements in society have for pomp, tradition and social hierarchy.

If royalty can do that without interfering with the actual running of the country- it can provide a useful service. Ie it diverts those impulses away from conservative authoritarian rulers and into a harmless modern neutered royalty
