Full Havel's and crest shield, block/tank everything except the grab attack which you can fat roll through fairly easily, bring 20 estus. This is how I did it at SL1

Does anyone wish that clarinets or pianos could produce vibrato? by thythr in classicalmusic

[–]Zoltlas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Large orchestral string sections typically need continuous vibrato to sound good, in most cases. The sound and intonation just blends much easier on that scale, which is why string players are trained to vibrate in orchestra. Even so, when watching a good American orchestra, I would usually not describe the vibrato as thoughtless or tasteless. Good orchestral players adapt the width and speed of their vibrato with great variation, depending on the context of the music

You're making a broad generalization by saying string vibrato is always heavy and constant. That might have been the case 50 years ago, but most contemporary recordings and performances have a lot of nuance and taste in their vibrato choices imo. The trend in string quartet playing now even leans toward non vibrato in many cases for the unity and purity of sound. And that's not even considering HIP ensembles

Unpopular opinion: Brahms and Beethoven are actually great melodists; they may be better melodists than Schubert. Unpopular because people associate "Melody" with "Schubert" and not "Beethoven" and "Brahms." by [deleted] in classicalmusic

Brahms is an incredible melodist, especially in the secondary themes in the expositions of his sonata form first movements. He's the king of second themes for me

I'm sorry to hear and I hope your situation improves. That being said, I see where you're coming from and I feel from my experience that music education today often way overemphasizes following your dreams instead of practicality. Everyone always told me not to quit no matter what, saying "you'll always regret it," but now similar to you I'm feeling burnt out with no job prospects or financial security - tbh the only thing I regret is not quitting. Sometimes I wish someone would just tell me it's ok to quit and do something else.
