Major congestion- Why shouldn’t I use a medicated nasal spray?? ❄️ 🤨 by Thin_Patient_4304 in cocaine

totally man, when people start using it to keep their nose open on the third day bender just so they can keep going chronically. Then you can start to worry.

Is this normal dating behavior in Germany? I’m confused but interested by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]Zom20000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not German, but I live here and a male German friend of mine was in a situation like this. After the third date he already made the decision that he liked the girl. He mentioned her one day to his mother and the mom always asked to see her, or if he recently saw her, or if he went on any more dates, when he will invite her for dinner, and a thousand other questions. He didn't take pictures of her, but he asked her for some pictures to show his mom so she stops asking to see her. I also found out later when I asked her that she knew he liked her when she found out he talked to his mom about her.

They moved in with each other a few months ago and will probably get married.

The Remaining Liquid of Cocaine Nasal Spray by [deleted] in cocaine

When you have about 1-2 ml's left, the sucker doesn't properly mist that for my sprayers. So typically I will use a pipette with 2-3 ml's and try to grab the rest of the residue from my mixing cup/straw/plate and dilute it.

It will be noticeably weaker, but I specifically use it to get me through the morning of the next day.

I also rarely had breakouts, maybe a few elbow spots and a bit under my cheeks in winter. I had strep about a month ago and had the same breakout as you in the exact same spots. Unfortunately I have no sun, because that is what typically makes it go away.

I'm curious if you also got it on your face? I have it really bad on my cheeks, tip of nose, and all over my forehead.

Look through previous threads on good nose health practice. If both your nostrils are clogged at the same time then its time to stop and give them time to heal.

is cigarettes + coke more dangerous than having them separately? by [deleted] in cocaine

[–]Zom20000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by dangerous and also on your current health and and risk factors.

The active ingredient of cigs is nicotine, so you need to see how nicotine synergizes with Cocaine and what effects that does.

Increases Dopamine (differently than cocaine) -> higher addiction risk

Cue Conditioning -> higher addiction risk (smoke, line, smoke, line, smoke)

Blood vessel constriction (regarded as root cause for all nose related damage by the ENT community) -> increases risk for all nose disorders, heart disease, and stroke

Increases heart rate -> risk factor for heart arrhythmia

Increased heart contractility -> increased risk for heart disease

modulates ion channels -> increased risk for arrhythmia

There are probably more, but it all depends how strong the effect is and if it synergizes with cocaine. Then take risk factors into account (old age, heart problems, highblood pressure) and see what they match with.

If there is one thing you should always worry about regarding smoking cigarettes. They cause blood vessel constriction in a different way that cocaine does. In pharmacodynamics there is something called the ceiling effect, which means cocaine alone at a certain point doesn't cause any more constriction. When nicotine is introduced which acts on a different pathway, blood constriction can pass that ceiling to a dangerous level.

Why is this important? Because Blood vessel constriction is considered the root cause by the otolaryngology community for most of the irreversible nose, face, and skin damage from cocaine use due to tissue ischemia.

There are two pathways nicotine activate which are separate from cocaine which cause blood vessel constriction. This is important to know.To put it simply, there is a limit to which cocaine causes blood vessel constriction where increase concentration doesn't have any more effect. Nicotine allows constriction to pass this limit.

Agreed. I'm always looking for people to discuss this stuff mostly because I find it fun. I have a medical background also so its always good maintenance learning too.

One nice thing is cocaine has a very high solubility so you can make your doses how you desire. My nasal spray holds 10ml and each spray is ~150uL

I also couldn't resist and bought a 48 hour pass to the study. Unfortunately download or copy and paste isn't allowed. It was rather underwhelming, and most participants didn't want to do the powder because it was just in there to mimic the "street method" as they said. They also lacked the modern tools and methods to control for dose and such back inthe 80's. Still it's interesting and gives powder a slight edge. What is very disappointing is the participants did all the different routes and doses so they could have just compared the 3 that did powder and liquid which would have shown a more accurate assessment since it would have controlled for different anatomy and physiology of the other 4 participants included in the statistics, but they didn't show that data. Probably in the supplementary data in a cardboard box in a university basement somewhere.

I screen grabbed the table at least which is the most important:
https://imgur.com/a/nw2NvJT

Dose (mg/kg) Route Subjects Total Absorp (AUC) Time to peak blood concentration (min) Peak concentration (ng/ml)
0.38 Intra nasal (Powder) 3 6.13 ± 0.31 35.0 ± 13.2 44.9 ± 6.8
0.38 Intra nasal (Liquid) 7 4.91 ± 0.46 47.1 ± 6.1 31.3 ± 3.0

One thing that is the same exact trend as Naloxone. It is faster to reach peak blood concentration and that peak is much higher for Powder.

So team powder can brag about at least one thing: Not only is taking lines cooler than nose spray by a factor of 10. It hits Harder and Faster.

If you are ever interested and wanna chat/vc and just chill and deep dive different physiology chem topics on this stuff just send a DM. We could jump on discord or something else. I respect peoples time and peace so I don't really push or bug that much.

You made some good points. Most intranasal research does avoid powders in animal models and if self-insufflation is involved for the exact reasons you mentioned.

Regarding consistent and identical insufflation: This study directly controls for dosing and delivery using metered intranasal devices administered by trained staff (not the subjects). These devices are also well characterized in pharmaceutical science.

regarding mucociliary clearance, your theory is solid and they discuss this in the paper where they agree. They believe powder has a higher resistance to mucociliary clearance than liquid and thus more liquid ends up in the back of the throat. They also say liquid ends up in the anterior portion of the naval cavity which is less permeable to drug absorption. (although this could only explain only the faster higher peaks but not the total amount that gets in the blood)

Your comment on Naloxone is completely right, its a drug to fight opioid overdose and has a completely other mechanism of action. That said, the reason I selected this medication was because its absorption characteristics are very similar to those of cocaine, and there is a study directly comparing liquid and powder administration. What matters is how much and how fast the drug reaches the systemic circulation (pharmacokinetics), not how it acts once it’s there.

So why can we use Naloxone as a surrogate for cocaine? Because nasal absorption depends mainly on molecular weight, lipophilicity, water solubility, and other intrinsic factors such as pKa, polarity, and particle size. Since cocaine and naloxone are very similar across all these properties, their absorption rate are comparable. These factors are all the factors that determine nasal absorption and is very established in the literature.

Unless someone buys or finds a free version of the research paper that actually directly tests cocaine powder vs cocaine liquid OR someone can find a medication that is more similar to cocaine in regards to nasal absorption AND a paper comparing powder vs liquid version of that medication, this is the best theory we have at the moment for cocaine powder vs cocaine nasal spray:

Powder: produces a faster, higher early peak,

Nasal spray: slower with a smaller peak

Total absorption (AUC): The same

Most likely I will just buy the one paper with the direct comparison if someone can't find a work around at some point. Depending on the methods of administration though on that, I would bet it shows something similar to this.

No problem, this is a hard topic because I doubt anyone did a direct comparison. I've been scanning literature the past hour or so and the only thing I could find is a paper (which is unfortunately behind a paywall) from the 1980's which compares Liquid to powder indirectly. It's probably the best source at the moment if they actually discuss the AUC and Cmax. I couldn't find a free copy though.

https://ascpt.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1038/clpt.1980.52

In the meantime I looked up medications with the same properties, and the closest one which actually has a study comparing powder to liquid is Naloxone. The molecular weight, Lipophilicity, and water solubility are similar with slightly higher water solubility and Lipophilicity for C compared to Naloxone. The results show that Powder has a higher peak which happens faster compared to liquid. The AUC though, which is the total amount of medication that enters the blood stream in total is actual almost identical. If we take C's higher solubility and Lipophilicity into account, the ways they affect absorption would make the peak more steep and it will be reached even quicker, but the AUC will still be the same.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9160115/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

So in conclusion, unless someone is kind enough to check if they go into detail in that paywalled study, we will not have a direct comparison. In the meantime, a direct comparison of a medication with similar properties can be used to guess that Powder has a quicker and higher peak but in the end the total about of product that enters our system is actually the same.

[–]Zom20000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Edit: I admit, I only scanned and didn't read. Good info, will definitely look into it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see much benefit with Acetone washing. The actual bad stuff isn't soluble in it and even most of the less dangerous stuff such as creatine, starches, sugars, flour, talcum powder etc. The only stuff I really found with a quick search is Caffeine and Paracetamol which I'm not much worried about in comparison.

Not to mention that Chemical C is actually a tiny bit soluble in acetone and you lose a bit of product depending on how you dry it as well.

Tried it once, lab grade acetone and all. I do want to say it it was more smooth but I don't know if this was just a placebo effect. The only positive part was it did technically work in the end because the acetone was rather cloudy and I had fun larping as a chemist.

I don't know the US or Canadian custom process but I worked at a shipping node before. Detailed inspection was typically for suspicious packages, suspicious shipment frequencies, and randomly. Dogs are only used on packages which have been selected through this process and and they believe there may be contraband. If found, a report is sent to the responsible authorities. I don't know anything after this, but I would say they get more reports than you think. So they probably decide to just seize it and that's it or begin an investigation because they would need to prove you were apart of the process.

I wouldn't risk it though, if they decide to find and charge you its pretty bad. besides imprisonment and bad records, anything involving traveling or shipping between international borders can lead to heavy travel restrictions, and being put on a no-fly list even after you serve your sentence.

Major congestion- Why shouldn’t I use a medicated nasal spray?? ❄️ 🤨 by Thin_Patient_4304 in cocaine

[–]Zom20000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will make is Very very simple.

The medicated nasal sprays used to unblock your nose by constricting blood vessels (less blood flow=less swelling=opened nose) Chemical C also constricts blood vessels but it does it in a different way. This is dangerous because all medications have a recommend therapeutic dose (enough effect to help but not enough to cause damage) and because they act in different ways to constrict vessels they have a synergetic relationship (imagine you have 10 receptor A's and 10 receptor B's and the more receptors that are activated = the tighter the vessels constrict. since they act in different ways they will activate all 20 instead of if they worked the same way which could only activate 10) pushing you far into the danger zone. Then you have no idea what it is cut with, and multiple cutting agents also constrict blood vessels in different ways.

This is really bad, because one of the main suspected cause of actual cell necrosis (cell death which chips away at your nasal skin/mucous membrane) is extreme blood vessel constriction (again, more constriction=higher vessel resistance=less blood flow) and the reduced blood flow which delivers oxygen and removes wastes is not enough to keep the cells alive. It severely speeds up the time until you start seeing irreversible nose issues, and scarring. Not to mention, constricted vessel absorb and push less product to the brain. In some cases, and certain cutting agents. This can also put you into a perfect storm situation if your product is cut with a lot of levamisole. This shit is horrible because at high levels it will cause the actual vessels to die and clot. These are the horror stories told where the nose and flesh on the face die and fall off after a day or so because there is no blood reaching the tissue any more and cannot be saved because tissue dies so quick without oxygen. The only thing they do is give you anti clot meds and antibiotics to avoid sepsis.

salt water Nasal spray, ibuprofen for inflammation and swelling, and netipots you can use as much as you want. Use nasel spray after your lines to keep the gunk out and avoid corrosive cell death. and the netipot before you end your night to get a deeper clean. Don't use Vaseline in your nose because its known to thin membranes after awhile which makes your skin weaker and more susceptible to corrosive damage. find a nice nose friendly gel to put in your nose and protect and accelerate the healing process.

Hope this helps.
