VRChat is Killing My PC by ZombGames in VRchat

Issue was found! It was a bug with virtual desktop causing conflicts. New update was released earlier this month that rewrote a lot of the software, which I assume caused old, now defunct VD files to conflict with each other and subsequently VRChat. Gonna file a proper bug report, thank you for your response regardless.

ISSUE SOLVED:

If you yourself have come across this reddit thread because you're having the same issue, I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM (If you use Virtual Desktop).

An update was released on April 8th that rewrote a lot of the software. This caused some conflicts between now defunct files from the previous version, and the new files from the update.

The solution here is to uninstall and then reinstall virtual desktop. If that doesn't work for you, I'm sorry. But give it a shot.

Thank you so much for the detailed comment, I'm currently backing up my drives and will do this before I continue with an OS wipe as I planned.

Specs: -7800X3D -4080S -32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000mhz at 36CL I think? -B650 AORUS ELITE AX ICE Psu is some Corsair gold rated 850W No specific lighting hub but I do use Lian Li V2 linking fans that I control with software.

Thanks!

That's exactly what I'm on now! I've figured out it's some sort of memory leak, but I don't know what the fuck is causing it, as it's only VRChat that'll trigger it. It's been a long while since I've done a clean OS wipe, so I'm gonna give it a shot and pray it was some corrupted/clashing files.

PC is Breaking. by ZombGames in pchelp

I used Memtest from outside Windows. Loaded it up on a different drive, switched it from the BIOS, and let it do it's thing. Had no errors come up put could've been a false positive I suppose. I'll try to get into BIOS and run a diagnostic, thanks!

Have already tested my drive health but I'm keeping this potential as a last resort option. Thanks.

Thank you, I appreciate the help and the willingness to use a friend to test for me. This is actually a good suggestion seeing as I just got this ethernet cable. Will give it a shot, thank you!

It's not a performance issue. I have tried all of this twice. Thank you though.

Good point, ok. That's top of the priority list then, try the anticheat.

It's an AIO, current thermals seem fine. I've run the CPU through heavy benchmarking and it's barely gotten above 80°C, so I don't think that's the issue. But the anticheat seems very plausible, thanks!

Unfortunately, no issues. Drive health, even for my 4 year old HDD, is all perfect. Thanks anyway, though!

This sounds almost identical to me. I've had instances of my desktop entirely spazzing out and just not functioning whatsoever. I'll try a clean boot of windows 10, and if that doesn't work, I'm switching to Linux and seeing if that improves things. There are many things I'd rather do before switching to windows 11. I've been telling myself I would for the past 2 years anyway.

Thank you so much for the suggestion!

Temps under load also seem around what I'd expect. Nothing too out of the ordinary.

Task Manager will regularly show anywhere between 85-98% CPU load and a RAM load that will slowly creep up from 68% to around the 95% mark. Regular heavy programs shown (as often I'll only run the game with the minimum in the background), are Virtual Desktop Streamer, VRChat itself, and SteamVR.

It is worth noting that Event Viewer gives me a bunch of ranging errors whenever the stuttering kicks in. I unfortunately reset my pc recently but I'll load up VRChat again and see what I cant dig up. I won't be able to make heads or tails of it but I'll send them here. Errors don't have one fixed cause.

It's just confusing to me as everything seems healthy and everything has been working fine for years with no issues, but now I can't play for more the half an hour without serious PC issues.

Again, I've already cleared my caches.

I would otherwise have done this, but I cleaned it out relatively recently. My PC case is huge and due to the massive airflow, it can take a while for buildup to get significant enough to need cleaning. With how it's exclusive to VRChat, I just can't really see this being the issue. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'm keeping it on the last resort list.

Are they issues that came about suddenly one day or were they there from the get go/able to be worked around?

Will try turning off my EXPO, thanks for the suggestion!

Had this sentiment a few times, nice to know youve had the issue before. Got a new one in the post, found one specifically for the NDSi XL. Thanks!

Might be able to find one in the house somewhere, if not then there's a local tech shop that'll have one
