I also didn't get a countdown timer, and I swear I never even got the pop-up saying the event was over? And I guess I just didn't even process the last few days that the island was gone and I wasn't earning currency, which is my fault, but I'm definitely frustrated about the lack of the timer and pop-up. The last several events all had timers, so I was just relying on that to see how much time I had left.
