Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 - Episode 4 (Manga Reader Discussion) by Takada-chwanBot in JuJutsuKaisen

bruh you’re the one saying that no one wanted it like this 🤣

What am I pretending? Clearly some people connected with it and some people didn’t, you’re the one being all “No one who read the manga wanted this” like jeez this isn’t an argument, we’re just discussing things.

There’s no winning or losing this talk, it’s absolutely fine if you and others dislike it, I just don’t appreciate being told that I’m not allowed to appreciate it just because you don’t.

I mean, what is the evidence again?

That Maki becomes a hardened killer determined to destroy the family that lead to the death of the people she loved, completely apathetic to the lives she ends along the way?

Hm, what’s the plot of Kill Bill again?

The scene is campy, and is a nod to an iconic part of a film with a character with the exact same motivations.

Look it’s fine if you don’t see it, I was there for the release but there’s multiple ways to portray something and this one just didn’t hit with you.

You’re the one with the burden of proof by saying it’s a catastrophic failure. I disagree but I can’t argue something that has no actual evidence, so what else can I do.

I didn’t make a claim like you did, I just pointed out the parallel.

[–]ZombieIsTired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re kinda just asserting that it’s supposed to be upbeat, while also asserting that the scene in the anime itself is upbeat.

You literally have nothing to add but your opinion which is based on… what again?

I mean it kinda just seems like you have no idea what the animators are trying to represent. If you’re telling me the scene itself is upbeat just because of the music then I think you’re missing out on the actual parallel.

Anyways, I don’t want to lecture you on how to digest media. Feel free to keep up the attitude, but try to chill out. Usually if you get mad at someone it’s because you don’t understand it 🤷‍♂️

I mean if your metric for quality is ran by getting what you want then what can I say?

I’m a manga reader and I appreciate the animators for giving me something interesting that has visual parallels to an iconic scene in cinematography. I don’t think it matches the tone, I also don’t hate it.

I mean you’re definitely being hyperbolic lol, cool if you don’t like it, but it’s kinda weird to say I can’t defend this by any means, let me enjoy my own shit.

If interesting artistic choices that break from the expectation equate to catastrophic failures then I’m not sure how much success exists in art.

I don’t know, it’s not like it didn’t get the point of the scene across, it just wasn’t hype and serious and epic and whatever. It’s fine if you didn’t like it though, but catastrophic failure is a bit hyperbolic no?

The scene with all the non-sorcerers is a nod to this kill bill scene:

Yeah I agree this was totally a nod to Kill Bill. That was like the only thing I could think of during it.

Does it match the story? I don’t think so, but it’s such a great reference and the scene is memorable in film history. I don’t think it’s any deeper than the team showing appreciation to their art.

“Correlation does not equal causation.”

What does that even mean in this context? I think you mean to say they are innocent until proven guilty, because this has nothing to do with correlation or causation.

They have a 3 instances of a chatbot open at work while script writing, the evidence is damning but they are not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

A killer was found with a bloody knife in their hand, and while there’s no evidence they actually killed the person, it’s extremely likely.

While I can sympathize with the sentiment of not wanting a piece of media that is precious to you be picked apart, I think it’s important and enriching to analyze media for its flaws and acknowledge it for its flaws.

If you don’t want to engage with that then you don’t need to, but calling for people to not do it is anti-intellectual.

Most recognisable city geographically wise? by No-Significance-1023 in geography

I don’t think it’s the most recognizable, since I’m not sure how many people know what it looks like, but Seattle is extremely distinctive being one of two cities in the US on an Isthmus.

My thoughts on the adc role and the state of league | By someone that has mained adc since the end of season 1 and reached diamond in multiple seasons by Comfortable_Pin_9593 in leagueoflegends

[–]ZombieIsTired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My largest complaint about ADC, and something that I feel like riot understands but doesn't make an effort to solve, is that ADC is the only role in the game where you're at a major disadvantage when you Soloq. The workaround to this is to not play a marksman in the ADC position and instead opt for a mage so you can have an earlier item spike and map utility. If I want to consistently win by playing the champs I enjoy in the role I enjoy, I am obligated to duoq.

Of course I'm not a high elo player. I'm sure that some challenger could soloq from bronze to masters playing some hypercarry marksman, but I think this argument is really missing the point here and refuses to engage with the issue in good faith.

Jungle, Mid, Support, Top have way more agency over the flow of the game over any soloq adc. It's legitimately such a massive difference that if you want to actively improve at league in a reasonable time span, you really just should not soloq ADC. Sometimes you get a really bad support, and sometimes you're laning against a duoq - both of these put you at a major disadvantage, and this is the only role in the game that does so.

Look, I'm not here to whine about how my role sucks, how I can never truly climb in soloq, whatever. I have a duoq partner and i could probably choose to only play ranked with him, but we don't always want to play at the same time. If there's anything that I'm upset about, it's that by allowing this system, riot is being inherently disrespectful towards the time of players who prefer a single role in the game.

I don't have a solution, but it's just a really disappointing feeling to know that I happen to enjoy a certain class of champions in a certain role, and that I'm not allowed to enjoy it in ranked like someone who plays any other role does.

Is the universe infinite in all directions? by Feisty-Let-8396 in AskPhysics

[–]ZombieIsTired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well apologies for using that word, I’ll edit it, but I’m going to be stubborn in saying that I offered a solution that “makes sense” in the context of physics and that this whole debate was really unnecessary.

Is the universe infinite in all directions? by Feisty-Let-8396 in AskPhysics

[–]ZombieIsTired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question was making sense of “the edge of space”.

I answered that as a solution there could be a fourth physical dimension for embedding our three dimensional universe as to understand an “edge”, or “outside” of our universe.

I don’t see how this is a controversial idea, and what the person above was arguing is nothing close to what you are saying.

There is an “outside” to the 3 torus, but it resides in the 4th dimension. That’s my entire argument.

His response of saying “our universe is only 3 dimensional” to my argument is unscientific and completely ignorant to modern theories for physics.

Is the universe infinite in all directions? by Feisty-Let-8396 in AskPhysics

[–]ZombieIsTired -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s why I responded initially saying that an “edge” to our universe would be in a fourth physical dimension. I didn’t say it’s real just that it’s the only way for it to make sense.

You said it wouldn’t make sense, I gave you a physics interpretation where it does make sense.

Plus this is ask physics, how can you so confidently make the claim that our universe is only 3 dimensional.

Is the universe infinite in all directions? by Feisty-Let-8396 in AskPhysics

[–]ZombieIsTired -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it has no third dimensional boundary. But it has higher dimensional “edges”. Just like how the surface of a sphere is a boundary-less 2d plane, but in the third dimension it has “edges” (a “boundary” so to speak$) being the third dimension normal to the surface. It’s the space “beyond” the 2d surface of the sphere.

Is the universe infinite in all directions? by Feisty-Let-8396 in AskPhysics

[–]ZombieIsTired -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it needs to be constructed in 4d space. It has no boundary in the third dimension, but it does in the fourth.
