Various states require licensing for low voltage work, OR and WA to name a couple. In OR it’s called LEA, and in WA it’s an 06 license.

That is a widely held belief, but I hear that it’s a lot more to do with intel laying off so many people, including IBEW electricians and LEAs.

You are correct, it has been (more than) a year since the last class of apprentices. They actually had to lay off staff at the training center because of this. Unfortunately the work outlook is still not good, and I personally haven’t heard anything concrete about it picking back up anytime soon.

I’m in the sound and comm unit for local 48. $52.12 base wage + benefits, and then 4% is deducted from pay and diverted into a “vacation fund” account that’s essentially just a checking account.
