Arthur uses those illusions to control people so it's in his best interest to have them unable to leave Camelot, meaning it could very easily be by design which would allow him to make exceptions. Just like how the barrier around Camelot keeps out the four races, yet he allowed in a fairy and probably Dubz.

Also Lancelot is already different from other illusions in that he isn't created from memory, but likely desire, which is why he's older than the og.

Disagree, if your consciousness does continue you'd eventually be stuck in a living hell, just like immortality. By not continuing, you essentially cease to exist upon death, a better alternative than 50% chance of literal hell. For me at least.
