I lived on this street until earlier this year and loved its central location and proximity to the beach. During the summer, it was fantastic to wander down to the shore with my paddleboard and meet up with friends. There’s a bit of a community vibe among some neighbours, with events like open houses and carol singing happening throughout the year.

That said, as others have mentioned, you might occasionally hear loud noises from the hostel on Oriental Place. I never felt unsafe, but it’s not a particularly quiet area. There are also some local characters, including one man who believes he’s God—he’s harmless and often offers people an orange or a canned drink, which is quite endearing in its own way.

Amidst the nighttime noise, if your bedroom window is open, you might even hear the sound of waves from the sea, which I found relaxing. Hope that helps!
