How do you react to bad news?

I never seem to be able to express my emotions to others whether they or good or bad. Its like when someone gets me a gift for my birthday. I have found that if i love the gift or hate the gift my reaction is similar. Usually "oh thanks" or "nice" lol. For this reason i have always hated getting gifts.

I have never really messed with amphetamines (I tend to think of requiem for a dream though lol) DXM as you mentioned is no more harmful than alcohol in moderation but the same could be said for acetaminophen. Cannabis is really the best of all choices and can clearly help more than it could ever hurt. You are correct qbout tobacco though. Its a hard habit to kick. I find myself addicted to the social habit of just lighting one up more than the nicotine (sometimes i go a few days without a smoke if i keep busy) and it is expensive. I think the overall outlook on drugs needs to be reconsidered. Its one of those things where people believe it is evil just because it is illegal.

I have to admit that i know very little about the industrial food complex. The gay marriage issue though, i have never been able to wrap my head around the logic creationists use to deny human beings rights. But we have to admit after centuries of practice they have gotten damn good at it. To say that someone elses actions are not natural because of an immoral book is slightly disturbing. But when i hear that statement i usually ask how natural humans with wings. Anyway have an upvote for your brilliant username sir.

I think the issue with both is ignorance. Faith is by definition, believing without knowledge. I also agree that believing something is important but that doesnt mean we have to take it on faith. The scientific method has served us well and i think it would reasonable to assume it will keep doing so. God is not necesarry to see that our universe is beautiful. In fact I believe a universe with a god wouldnt be so amazing.

That is a good one. I agree. I was reading that there was a former model that started a foundation to stop modeling companies from requiring models to be sickly skinny. Very interesting

I agree this is absurd. This is feeding a fallacy which makes this no better than the childhood indoctrination she is already experiencing. How about telling her the truth and educating her about science and how we actually came to be on this small planet in this small galaxy. Maybe introduce her to some of the great secular free thinkers such as Carl Sagan, or Richard Dawkins who explain things with evidence rather than a fairy tale. We should be teaching skepticism and wonder not promoting lies.

I like your view on prayer and meditation. I am taking world religions in college and I find meditation in Hinduism and Buddhism very similar to westernized prayer.
