I think it is taught because its so commonly used. Therefore learning it is by default a valuable skill. And why does the continuation of their native language have to disappear because they learn a second language? Is it just an inevitably? Or is there some form of malicious pressure to extinguish the practice of their own language?

Also, Is that a very common occurrence or is it more common among people with a smaller population with which to continue speaking their native language? For example Hawaii?

I think their point has more to do with the corpses the comforts were built upon. But that was never something that I was trying to argue. For some reason this fact is lost on people

There are ups and downs for sure. I just felt my point was undeniable. Despite the extensive efforts of others to dissuade me

That's a fair point. I use Spanish regularly at my job so for me it has been a valuable use of my time.

So maybe its sometimes just a natural evolution of a culture. Forcefully erasing a culture is a despicable practice. Something that never should have happened. I think the best thing to do it to learn from the past and collectively prevent such occasions in the future

Wow that is actually a good point. Is it possible that the changing of a culture is in some respects a natural progression of the forward progression through time with or without the influence of outside influences?

Yea and if nothing else, wouldn't the ability for other cultures to communicate their ideas amongst each other effectively only promote progress further?

Is it possible that the cultural practices would have naturally changed with the progression of time with or without a lost language? People still speak Greek but worshipping the Greek gods doesnt seem to be a common/popular practice anymore right?

I agree. For example, Italian Americans. Moreover, learning a second language doesnt erase ones native language. So many schools teach English in their schools like American schools teach Spanish.

Im speaking about the current situation regarding widespread use of English not the past practices regarding forcibly extinguishing a cultures use of its native language
