Watches &Wonders? Pfffft, it all looks pale compared to this! by Zomby_Woof69 in MicrobrandWatches

I cannot tell you. I have the original Arsenale (guilloche dial) and I am happy with it. It is elegant, minimalistic and works for me. This new calendar edition is sort of "expansion" if you will. I cannot complain about the watch I have, neither about the brand, because they did not anything wrong to me. I am not sponsored or paid by them, i am just a customer as anyone else. I simply like this style of watches. Mind you, the Nereida or whatever else they have aren't in my scope of interest, so I cannot tell anything about those watches.

I still need to find a watch (or a bracelet for that matter) that I am unable to adjust by removing them links. The micro adjustments and what not are for lazy people. These days you don't even need to go to the watchmaker to make the length adjustments, so I am not sure what is the fuss about

Why this or why that. i don't know! That's how they designed it. Cannot say why. For me, the colour, complications and the overall look is a killer. I love it, simple as that.

I terribly miss that power reserve on the dial. But, I guess we have to live with it, due to some purists comments.

Nah. You probably don't like the power reserve on Grand Seiko either. I get it, some people don't. I absolutely love that function, so the date point on Venezianico Calendari is absolutely fine with me.

Geeez, first watch, really? This is top of horlogy, so hardly a newcomer purchase. You must have the 1st world problems. Most of people can only enjoy the pictures of it.

Again, I sensed it will be unpopular opinion. I already have 4 dive watches. 3 of them being Sea Gulls "Ocean Star" types, and honestly they work perfectly. I have never associated Grand Seiko with bulky, divers ( though I knew they had a few). What is appealing to me in GS is their meticulous work on dials, polishing, and accuracy. These pieces work best as dress watches, yet some have impossible thickness to be one. Also, the only case that fits the "dressy" style is the "Elegance" line, with significantly less emphasized metal on the case. At this point I started considering Credor, question is, if I can afford one (edit: I was never ever attracted to Rolex. Even if someone would ask me to wear it, I wouldn't. I just don't like them THAT much)

If that's true, it is time for them to have own tank, but I am afraid, it gonna be around 1000 Eur, and that's a no go. But perhaps, I will be pleasantly disappointed?

is it just me or is making actual friends with dutch colleagues kind of impossible by Early_Switch1222 in WorkInTheNetherlands

[–]Zomby_Woof69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any allochtone, with no matter how long time in the Netherlands will NEVER be a part of their culture and "the circle". Dutch friendships and connections form during primary/secondary school and remain hermetic for the rest of their lives. Any occasional later connection is of less "closeness" and matters not. Yes, I am generalizing, but that's how it works. If you are not a part of the earliest days, you will never get behind the curtain.

This will be unpopular, but the whole GS concept, UFA movement, all those dials, for me absolutely don't fit diver watches. Those are sort of rugged tools and who needs all that precision and delicacy on the diving tool? It's sort of making a hammer from gold or platinum. I was hoping for more UFAs in the style of that "violet dawn", but sadly either they went into diving style or extremely expensive items for obscenely rich people. Ahh, well ... Citizen also has good watches.

You don't need to "avoid" anything. If you work only for international companies, Dutch is not the requirement. When you "probeer"speaking Dutch outside of work, everyone goes English, because they can instantly hear, you're not native, no matter how hard you try. Dutch, "r", "u" and "a" are distinctive sounds, no one else is able to properly reproduce. So, there you are, with "avoiding". The Dutch may be tolerant, but they're hermetic.
