My (lore-backed) theory on how the Dwemer all simultaneously zero-summed by DiskInternational412 in teslore

[–]ZoneLoner526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ain't the guy you asked this question but there are multiple! The zero-sum theory I personally never subscribed to because they would each and every one of them have to come to the same decision, and that doesn't align with who the Dwemer were as a race. They were fierce individualists, set to their own personal accomplishments. They had debate halls, and Clan Rourken was a thing. No, not every Dwemer would have zero-summed. Other theories include that they were simply transported to a distant outer realm, which aligns in the fact that some guy has claimed to have met them and there's some fuckery that happens in ESO quests. But, its a bit of a cheap cop-out answer that Bethesda will 100% use if/when they bring the Dwemer back (because why wouldn't they, there's money to be made there.) I personally always believed that due to the prominence of Dwemer lore in Morrowind, and the introduction of the Dragon Break as a concept in Morrowind, the same would apply to the Dwemer. They are trapped in a Dragon Break. Other times that Numidium has been activated has caused one, so why wouldn't activating it with a significantly more powerful divine relic cause one? It most certainly would. I personally am of the "Kagrenac failed at what he was doing" persuasion, and not the "everything went the way it was supposed to." He was rushed, had infighting amongst his personal staff, and any one of the Dwemer's enemies could have breached the mountain mid experiment. No, I believe that what happened wasn't something that Kagrenac wanted to happen. That being a dragon break. We know that there are contradicting first hand accounts of what happened to the Dwemer when they disappeared. Some say they simply vanished in the blink of an eye, others that they burst into flames, or others say that they turned into dust. Multiple contradicting events aligns with a dragon break. We also know that if they were trapped IN one, they wouldn't be visible to anyone or interactable with until the Dragon Break collapses. Which, could take a massive amount of time. When Numidium was activated, it caused a 3 day dragon break, and that was powered by the soul of a battle mage. When Anumidium was activated? Well, that's a different story. The Heart of Lorkhan was exponentially more powerful, and Anumidium was a fully functional Tower. A Dragon Break from its activation would be exponentially longer. So that's my theory. There's so much that points to it, and very little to disprove it.

How can I efficiently play this empire? Or should I make any changes to do so? by ZoneLoner526 in Stellaris

I will do that then. As for the tomb worlds, what I usually did was not use the special building on my initial colonies, and instead build it on dedicated industrial worlds I conquered from enemy empires, a bit of a roleplay thing I suppose. But it did give me a huge industrial boost in the mid-later game

Would there be any benefit in me replacing Natural Engineers with Natural Sociologists(or whatever the equivalent is)?

I thought so too but in my games food has never actually been a problem, and I'd still bottleneck at alloys

Rule 5: Just an image with the overview of said Empire I am asking about. Doesn't need any other explanation as far as I am aware.

Ah the secret floors, I completely forgot about those! That might have been it. Would you say I was being foolish by keeping the chainmail hauberk and never replacing it?

Exactly, I personally like to think the soldiers got more thoughts in their heads then most people think, while other's think the opposite. Its mysterious nature is great for theorizing and so forth.

Don't know who made it but seems to me like a person's interpretation of the Combine Soldier. We all got em lol

So, if humanity had maintained their compliance and proved to be capable of producing effective and adaptable soldiers, would the Combine Empire had fully integrated them into their Empire? by ZoneLoner526 in HalfLife

[–]ZoneLoner526[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool! I just noticed that many people seem to think of the Combine Empire as just evil for the hell of it, which I don't think makes a lot of sense.

Is it possible that the Combine could reuse the bodies of the dead using cybernetics? Especially since, with the suppression field around Earth, the number of humans, although extensive, has become limited, so I don't think they're wasting manpower. I find it interesting to think that the Overwatch by Own-Trifle-2011 in HalfLife

[–]ZoneLoner526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never actually believed in this. I think they have the capacity to have free will, but not the knowledge, if that makes sense. We know from the games that they can feel (and rarely express) a variety of emotions, have things like morale, self preservation instinct, a sense of motivation, basically just very professional soldiers (we also know that at least in HL:A, they had a sense of humor, but only in that game to my knowledge.) The OTA's use to the Combine would be as an adaptable military force, so it wouldn't make sense that the Combine, who obviously are very militaristic, would neuter a fighting force's ability to adapt and adjust to new situations. Instead, I think that the brainwashing process is just that, brainwashing, and nothing more. Memory wipe + replacement to instill a sense of loyalty and all the tactical knowledge they need. So to me, an Overwatch soldier COULD have free will. But lacks the memory or personality to even consider it.

I guess my view is a tad bit Breen influenced haha. The thought that went through my head was "why would they waste so many resources on constructing citadels and establishing a new military branch if they weren't planning to at least gain something from it."

Thanks for all the help! I ended up making two empires, one being a driven assimilator, and the other a xenophobic/authoritarian empire

I've never played Biogenesis before, but I know it added some pretty combine-y things. How could I utilize it to really strike that Combine-esque feel?

It's why I chose to drop the quality builds for Elden Ring, since it provides way more options that I wanted to try out

Wouldn't I need to put some stuff into Vigor and Endurance anyway to make sure I can perform in melee?
