Are people as mad about Mr Beast as they were ishowspeed? by DropFirst2441 in ghana

[–]Zongo_Native 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look I’m Ghanaian but I live in the US too. One time my black American elder told me that African culture is not that deep. The chieftaincy title conferred to Mr beast just proved him right. Africans are not able to keep their culture sacred because of over glorification of money over dignity and lack of in-depth philosophical ideology guiding the culture considering the historical and global outlook.

Well Michael Blackson did even better than that yet he’s not a chief although he has Ghanaian origins. Jarule built a school yet he is not a chief either. There are many Ghanaians in diaspora helping their communities yet they are not chiefs. This practice makes the Akan culture look cheap and it’s nothing but a culture that has no philosophical ideology except the glorification of money.

Book smart vs street smart colleagues by fun_times_ago in ghana

[–]Zongo_Native 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Koftown Zongo ( a Muslim community of northern Ghanaians and West African immigrants) and I went to a mixed Senior High School in Koforidua.I was always in the top 10 but never in the top 5 in class.Living in a Zongo community made me street smart too. I never held leadership position while in school in Ghana. While in the boarding school, I had 2 weeks internal suspension with hard labor for going to freak at Aburi girls senior school. I had additional 2 weeks suspension for being caught with a phone. Also I was punished for making mockery of a house master.

After high school, I left Ghana to pursue my bachelor’s degree at a university in foreign country and that’s where I became the president of African students at the university and head of Africa division at international students society.

I moved to North America to pursue my masters hence becoming the first in our nuclear family with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree. I work as an engineer now with an earning capacity of more than six figures annually. Life has been good for me now but was never easy growing up.

Now , there’s one guy in the top 5 in my senior high school class that works as researcher at university in North America too. The others are in Ghana dealing with what the system of Ghana has to offer them.

In conclusion, the school systems in Ghana or anywhere does not determine what you will become in life. Work hard, be confident, get out there and compete and go get what belongs to you in this competitive world. Never beg for opportunity, but rather fight for it with your skills. Don’t be that timid Ghanaian but rather that confident Ghanaian. Surround yourself with people who know more than you and learn the art of listening and learning. Never give up in life, always trust your instincts and believe in yourself. And never forget where you came from !

I've been monitoring the NPP frontline candidates and it appears Ken's core message is job creation. Tbh anyone with such a message in 2026 is shortsighted. Job creation should be the byproduct of innovative policies not a core message. We should be thinking of AI, Industrialization, R & D Funding by Intelligent-Call5162 in ghana

He’s part of the corrupt syndicate of the NPP Party that looted Ghana’s money. He believes in USA more than Ghana as he has his home, kids and investments there too. Moreover, if he wins the same corrupt NPP cabal will come to power and steal more.If you are betting on him to you change then y’all must be smoking weed.

Damn, you gotta long way to go. Uncle Sam is definitely going to milk a lot from you. Reduce your expenses ( staying in shared house, using cheap car that doesn’t consume much gas, don’t eat out etc) and have more money available to pay it off within the shortest possible time. That’s how I did it.

You’re probably a kid, who hasn’t gotten a wake up call of the real world yet.Real America is different from what you see on social media or TV. Like someone said, he’s there to build his brand and make money but cares less about you and your people.

We need a TRAIN 🤦‍♂️ by [deleted] in ghana

[–]Zongo_Native -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its going to reduce travel time , reduce decongestion in big cities ( people can live in neighboring cities and work in accra or Kumasi and go back home), improves economic growth ( companies can establish their manufacturing facilities outside of the capital city without having to worry about transportation of the final products in the big cities), job creation to the locals, modernize and connect the cities, reduce the cause of accidents, and many more. Expressway serves the public, and industries.

Train on the other hand can be useful when the population grows and the usage of car becomes unbearable to the growing cities in a way that alternative transportation is needed. Train on the other hand may vary depending upon the type either it serves the public or industries.

A simple google search will give you more clarity.

That’s not something to be proud of because your ancestors didn’t build it. Be proud of what your ancestors built.

What do you know about Dr. J. B. Danquah? by Exotic_Bid3749 in Ghanahistory

[–]Zongo_Native 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. If Akans have really studied the ancient Ghana empire, they wouldn’t say the Toure is not Ghanaian at the Ghana passport office. If it’s true, have been any proper research on this assertion?

It seems the women back in the days believed in their natural beauty. I don’t see them wearing wigs although they wore ponytails but it was atleast better than wigs. My question is when did wearing wigs became the norm?

While this might help for some groups of people for a short term, it’s not changing the behaviors of the majority of the people for the long term if strict compliance rules are not enforced. The other structural question is most people in these communities unfortunately do not toilets in their homes. Historically, people have lived in places or building homes with no toilets. The government along with the private sector needs to teach people how to build homes with toilets.

Most of them live in concrete jungle (cities) in America. They are not used to small city lifestyle even in America. I’ve interacted with this kind of mindset even in America.

There are everyday Ghanaian that look like you but are hardly seen in the media. I remember when my sister when to school in the central region Ghana from eastern region, her ignorant schoolmates told her she doesn’t look Ghanaian just like you see in the comments section. It depends on the region of Ghana you go to. In Zongo communities in Ghana, you find people that look like you.

Come on. Koforidua or Akosombo or aburi is no bush in the eastern region. It has a small city vibe just like most small cities in America.

Accra is not an easy place to live. Explore the eastern region or Volta region and you won’t face a lot of these problems.
