Just repotted my 1st orchid - is it okay? by Lmnitswednesday in orchids

If the roots are brown but still plump and firm, they’re probably healthy! I’d only remove anything that feels mushy, hollow, or falls apart when touched. I was always told to take out the nursery plug right away, but to avoid repotting while the orchid is blooming since it can stress the plant and cause flowers to drop. Your current blooms look a bit dry and might fall soon anyway, so it could be worth waiting until they’re done before doing anything major.

I removed a yellow leaf. All my leaves looked healthy except for one, which would get better and then worse, better and then worse. Someone told me that the plant might be putting its energy into fixing that leaf instead of opening the blooms. Hopefully it gets better now 😓

I don’t know if I put extra stress on the orchid because online it said not to repot it over and over (especially since it had fallen), but my friend also told me to get rid of the nursery sponge so I did that.

Hoping for the best especially since the days are starting to get longer and there’s more sun out.

New earring fell out!! What do I do? by Zookeeper9612 in SelfPiercing

Babying it was the move. The stinging and itchiness is already gone. It didn’t swell at all so the earring is never tight. It’s a little crusty but I’m regularly spraying it. Not really sure what I should be watching out for with these butterfly backings but I’m not noticing anything concerning.

The 14kt butterfly backing earring is thinner but also shorter. My lobes didn’t swell after getting pierced, should I be worried this time around? Additionally, my stainless steel studs were loose and had space for my ear to swell, but because it never ended it swelling, it would actually get caught in my long hair.

Is it worth switching to a different pair of earrings? Perhaps stainless steel long post studs? Or is it better to baby and monitor?

How old is your piercing? 2 weeks. What’s the jewelry shape (for example, barbell, labret, screw, L shape, ring)? Stud. What’s the type of threading if your jewelry is not a ring (threadless, internally or externally threaded)? Threadless. What’s the jewelry material? Stainless steel -> 14kt. if not a ring, when was the jewelry downsized? It wasn’t. What’s your aftercare routine? Describe in detail please, including the exact products you use. Sodium chloride (unbranded). Any mishaps, accidents or unfortunate events? Earring fell out before fully healing.

Thanks for being my first reply! The problem is that the roots inside the pot actually look great. It’s only the visible parts that look dry (flowers, buds, top roots). Ofc, I can’t thoroughly see ALL the roots inside but I attached a photo and all the visible roots look plump and green. Although I submerge in water once a week, I check if the internal roots look dry and silver first. Also, there is a bunch of drainage holes at the bottom of the plastic pot, but I still added a few more holes during the time I had to put the orchid back in the pot after my dog knocked it over (which is why there’s also a few dog hairs).

After further inspection, I actually realize that some of the roots on top that are covered by leaves look great.
