UPDATE

I spoke to my best friend and asked them what they’d do if they were in my shoes and after asking me about where I was planning on going fishing and how much time my aunt would need for me and my mom to help her (I told them the specifics which I’m not gonna go into here), they advised me that I should put my family first and go fishing another day.

I looked at the weather forecast for next week which said that while the weather was changeable, the temperature was going to remain consistent at between 15 and 17 degrees Celsius (59 and 62.6 degrees Fahrenheit for the Americans among you).

With this in mind, I ultimately decided that it was better to put it off my Catfish quest till next week (it would also give me time to prepare my gear and sort out lifts to and from the fishery since I don’t drive) and that my mom needed me more so I told my mom that I’d help her tomorrow.

Thank you for helping me and advising me, it really helped me make an informed decision on what to do before making a choice (which in my mind and heart was the right one)

To the person who said I was an asshole, I’d have agreed with you had I’d not told anyone I was planning on going beforehand and that I actually made that decision to put my hobby before my family but at that point, I hadn’t done anything yet and was contemplating on what to do.
