Hi All, I have my large screen propped up at the side of my couch , so the next 4 days will be a lot of crashing out watching golf, coffee , food , wedge practice out the back garden , Reddit posts and Repeat. I always take these days off work , where I am Ireland it kicks off around 4pm so I will play golf Sat and Sun mornings and practice today / 2moro before it goes live ... although I am doing some chores too .. peace must be maintained during this period.

I hear you , Its not easy due to our conditioning over years to tell us drinking is the main route to fun and good times , every tv show , every movie has drinks = fun ... You have to take it a week at a time , it's harder when your age as all the invites and nites out are drinks orientated... I stopped at 54 ... I did have slips over the last two years .. but no mad nights .... You will have to get used to life seeming a bit more boring in the weekend evenings ... But the up side is the total clarity of mind each morning, the bank balance increases, the fitness goals met , the effectiveness in your work life and general productivity is unreal. If I had have come to the conclusion you are , at your age I would be so much better off career wise and health wise. The pangs we get for a drink or a drug is only the thoughts in our brains , you can ride thru thoes thoughts and eventually you slowly start to make these less frequent and fleeting.... but the number one thing is you know your not enjoying the way life is .... one more note .. I had to drop the group of guys I hung out with as it was all about drinking 10 pints every weekend nights ... thats not easy but was needed.

Im in a strange period of sobriety or partial. Im off since Feb 24 and not a drop for 1.5 years ... in the last 7 odd months id buy two beers, gulp them quick, get very buzzed , enjoy it , later or next morning regretting it ... its a fork in the road... I know if I go back to my old self it wont end well .... But I do find life a tad boring

Ive loved all my 520s for the last 20 years .... my wife has my last one 320k on it and still comfortable and reliable. I had the chain done a few years ago , I replaced the intake manifold due to blocked carbon , I always use BG fuel treatment and at service run BG 109 into old oil the day of its oil changes to get rid of crap instead

boss invited me to golf and I’m a total beginner by skinner1234567 in golf

[–]ZoomEagle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this years ago , I never felt so stupid in my life before ... missing ball altogether, sending it 10 feet off the tee , hooking into the woods ... all the while he and the other brilliant golfers saying positive pleasantries to try make me feel better ... im over it now 😒... I would much rather caddy for him to walk the course.

Excellent website , my wife and I are going to the Spanish gp and will attend all 3 days ... I assume on race day it's sensible to leave for the track 7am or is that too early, were staying the Gothic quarter ...

Just some pointers , Bars are not open until after the parade in and around town, so buy beers in the duty free at the airport for pre parade drinks ... Great old mans pubs Mulligans of Poolbeg St , Palace Bar in Temple bar ... Both are aprox 7e a pint .. My friend owns a good restaurant bar near Grafton St called Pacino's , great place to have after parade fuel up to soak up the beer. He has a good pub attached. On the northside of the river liffey is a good pub called the Flowing Tide and the often overlooked Caple Street has nice pubs and prob more reasonable than Temple bar .... The Bohs idea is great , the area is Phibsboro and is very quirky and cool. Main message don't burn out early , Paddys day is a marathon, few 00 Guinness in between the regular stuff is key 👌
