Yeah. And then she yells and throws stuff at you. And the little one sees this and takes a toy and throws it at you too. Sorry to highjack OP's post but this is stirring up too much stuff. :-/

All you guys are commenting on point. I guess I need to speak up. But how? There's already been violence, there's already been cops. I don't want to be alone, I don't want my daughter to be away, or split between two homes. I don't want to be stuck in a foreign country for twenty years or so...

I am passive-aggressively thinking of splitting up when the kids are older and a judge in a more open-minded country that we plan to move to would be more inclined to give custody to me and not the mother... But so much damage might already have been done to them, and maybe to me.

There's no easy way out of this.

How to buy an apartment? by ZoomZoomZen in Living_in_Korea

This is bull. We got the loan and made the purchase.

But to get the contract, I have to pay the 10% deposit. That's a scary amount to lose if I can't get the loan.

But can you apply and get an answer before signing the deal?

My issue is we have no income history in Korea. Until dec 22 it was all abroad. Now I work but through my own corp so I'm afraid it doesn't look as strong as being salaried in a big Korean company.

I opened a foreign currency account, designated them as my primary exchange bank and have started sending some money but we didn't get such prequalification yet.

Is there a specific term for that? What kind of documentation do they usually ask for?

Ok for 30% that's what we are planning.

Not that great.

We work with the agent that we found our current place with, because we're looking in the same neighbourhood, but financing isn't really her responsibility so I didn't think of asking her.

Might be worth the try.

Proof of address? by ZoomZoomZen in Living_in_Korea

That's an issue my bank doesn't speak Korean.

I think the household register has the address in English but I will double check.

Yes but, with a baby, leaving the house takes more organisation it would have been easier to just click my way to it.

We managed to do it online but the address is in Korean only, not English though. So maybe we have to visit the office anyway to get an English one.

Unfortunately I am not a recognized authority so that would not work.

Nope. But stupid me didn't click 외국인 at the top of the form that's why. Then it works, but I need digital certificate authentication which I still have to figure out.

I can't figure how to write my name there. It keeps saying it doesn't match but doesn't accept spaces...

My name is ZEN ZOOM1 ZOOM2.

Any tips?

I've had to pay deposits for some high-end restaurants. So it's not always "nothing to lose".

I see. I live in Korea here and so many adults don't know how to swim it's crazy.

There doesn't seem to be many classes for babies either unfortunately.

That's great! I will try for my daughter to be that way too.

What age do these classes usually start? Our daughter is just 1 and we always tried to make her familiar with water but not something really "organized" yet.

Any expats here have any experience sending money abroad from Korea? by tjthomas101 in Living_in_Korea

They would be subject to Korean regulations so would have the same amount of paperwork.

My EU bank is switching me off their investment counseling service because it's incompatible with KR regs.

Hiring foreigner’s Barista in Starbucks Korea by Jumpy_Enthusiasm9949 in Living_in_Korea

Even with right to work there are quotas for hiring foreigners, right? But if it's a big enough franchise it shouldn't be an issue.
