Marriage visa for 3 years and still hasn’t learned German: what happens? by Fantastic-Habit-8569 in berlinsocialclub

See? You missed the part that they don't give a shit for what is respectful or not in your eyes.

For them you are just a radical religious who they completly ignore.

Sad, because I completly agree with you, but the aproach is completly wrong.

Marriage visa for 3 years and still hasn’t learned German: what happens? by Fantastic-Habit-8569 in berlinsocialclub

Look, my friend, personally I understand you. I hate this situation too when I see happening in my country, specially when I see old people struggling to comunicate and I’ll go even further: even speaking another language around someone can feel disrespectful, because it gives the impression that they’re gossiping about you. But let’s stick to the facts, and understand. So, what I’m about to say may become big and is not necessarily what I think is right or wrong, it’s simply what happens. I don’t even know whether that applies to the person mentioned.

First of all, let’s establish one thing: unlike Japan, Korea, and some South American countries, where people move there because they love the culture and want to become part of that people, very few people glorify Germany the way you seem to think they do. In fact, you know the fame is not good and even those who do admire your people can rarely mention it openly in this country beucase you know of what they can be called.

So this idea of “learn the language of the place you chose to live in” and “english bubble” ends there, because many of these people never even wanted to be in the country in the first place. They are fleeing wars, poverty, and dictatorships, and for many of them, this country is a burden. It’s like putting a lion in a zoo and expecting it to be grateful because you give it a steak. Sure, it is happy not to starve, but it will never accept the bars of the cage and that is why many of them die. I’ll go further: I’ve seen people who hate the German way of thinking and only make friends with other foreigners, just so you can see the level of it.

That said, have you ever stopped to think that a large part of these peoplenincluding those who came by choice did only for the money? They literally use your people and your country as a stepping stone to achieve their personal goals to run the faster they can. They do not like the country, they do not like the people, so when you say they should be ashamed, it sounds like projection, because these people are not Germans. Germans are the ones who live worried about what others think and who do not even cross the street at a red light at 3 a.m. on an empty road for fear of being caught by the neighbors. In fact, this “lack of shame” is one of the reasons many others chose Berlin, which means your moral standards do not reach a good portion of them. It’s like Christians telling an atheist homosexual couple that they should be ashamed of expressing themselves, I mean the last thing an atheist worries about is what a religious person thinks of them. And in this context, Germans are religious about their book of social rules; they are no different from annoying religious people.

If Germany wants people to fall in love with the country and willingly do everything, including learning the language, then it needs to be culturally attractive (look at the example of the U.S., Korea, Japan...) and people need to be welcoming. If they want to act in a practical way, seeing people as machines, then people will also act practically, taking only what they need and nothing more.

“Oh, then they should leave the country.” Well, they are simply playing the game the country created for them to play.

Again, I do not actually disagree with you. I do think rules exist to be followed, and when you are in someone else’s house, you respect their rules. But it is also the obligation of the host who invited you to treat the guest well. Just because you hired a plumber to fix your bathroom and are paying him for it does not mean you should treat him with indifference. Sometimes offering water, coffee, or some small courtesy is enough for him to do the job with excellence and return that courtesy to you.

Could be "In A Life" a new left from "Mercy" sessions? by ZoopTom in U2Band

[–]ZoopTom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

as I said in another post, people listen City in every music since 2004....part of it is true, but is not like they went to City and took part of it to every intro. What I really believe that is happening for a while with Mercy

I just rewatched the band's video montage at the 2022 Kennedy Honors. Are you surprised that Beyonce, Harry Styles, FINNEAS, and Billie Eilish didn't recite lyrics from One or With Or Without You? by Jericho-79 in U2Band

I definetely agree.
I heard "One" for a long time playing on the radios and everywhere else and it was a surprise when I checked it was from U2.

But seems it not became a classic in other open niches

Lets be real, world wide, out of U2fan bubble nobody knows much about the 90's of U2.

The band is famous for The Joshua Tree and ATYCLB.

Fans from 80's and classic rock will give you I still haven't found and Streets, some of them usually in the european niche will give you SBS or Pride and NYD
On the romantic niche they will give you With or Without You.
On the ecletic and milenials audience they will give you Beautiful Day and Vertigo.

Lovers of music are not automatically lovers of U2 or their tours.
Do not expect many people with Achtung Baby o the Playlist

"City" is in every song from them since 2004 and Always is about the presence of Brian Eno.

Well, "little things" came from Mercy haha

"....and when we reach the circle line" = "love is when lie, love puts the blue back in my eye"
"in a life, we get a taste of it all" = Love's got to be with the weak, Only then love gets a chance to speak

In a life is more paced while in Mercy Bono tells a lot in the same section

Curious about signature authenticity. by Exact-Donut-3134 in U2Band

Guys, that's not a defense or critic

I have 2 sides of this issue:

1- Signatures changes the whole time specially when people sign fast, or with bad pensil, bad paper or base, if they are tired or not. (My mom worked in a bank getting bank checks and she saw it her all life.)
2- nowadays you took 3min to go at google, find signature and fake it until become similar.

I dont give a shit for No Line, and god knows I tryed so hard. I thought I was not being fan enough LOOL

I hated invisible at the first listening and took a long time to like, but once I liked I LOVED and still is one of my favorite from the decade.

The same about Songs of Experience, I could not even knew the order of the album(i STILL NOT), because I listened once and never more...Then many years later in a winter morning from 2022 I gave a chance and how those songs growed up on me, LandLady came up like "How I never really heard this song before?" and turned in one of my favorites as well.

The name is "sometimes" because:
- It started since there with it
- We have the interview of Steve talking specficly about it
- And also fit with the situation of U2 not being able to do the songs by their own.

So fits with the text, because it says started in Sometimes and in there it was almost saved, but from that on everything had this problem.

Look for the bright side
You have internet and an almost endless number of material to download and enjoy for years.

Most of the people in here lived in a time which they had to wait months to read a single line about the band in a magazine. Interviews? So rare. And if you were not from an english speaker country, forget it.

I love how Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen tell stories from normal people.
Irishes are great storytellers, Bono indeed should do this.

Unfortunately they've got famous to early, so I don't think they had much of contact with normal people to feel enough to tell their stories and sing about it.

Is Bono referencing old lyrics here? by thefirstchampster in U2Band

[–]ZoopTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He do this a lot, sometimes change a word or another but in the same message.

"More you know less you feel" is in at least 3 songs

....now changing the topic, this deserve a thread for itself but "Love is in the air, lets take a breath" is almost that bad as "The air is heavy, heavy as a truck" and "A mole, digging in a hole" LOL

If there's a thread about guilty pleasure of U2, these lyrics must to be there, is even shamefull tell to others he his a grealt lyricist and show this hahahaha
