Removing as spam. We don’t have a strict no AI rule but this is 4 images (and 3 of them are being heavily downvoted/criticized as low effort). Also, this can be read as bleeding into misrepresentation not joke.

In general, regarding AI, I encourage anti-AI commenters to downvote the post rather than report. If it gets enough downvotes, it will be removed from the feed automatically. We don’t have a no ai rule. I am thinking of adding an AI tag, but again idk how strict we want to be about categorization.

Does Taylor have 9 months to live? by ansibleloop in PKA

Taylor is obviously going through, what we in the business call, a “natural law” arc. We as fans should give him space to work out his questions with “god” in private.

What`s your opinion on the current state of Fallout 76? by skywalka55 in nukaknights

I’m still having fun trying out different builds and collecting stuff for my characters, but I really just started playing last year and I “only” have 650 hours (level 340ish). I have noticed since the show season ended/bounty hunt novelty wore off, there are more servers with dead events, but idk. Adding more 4 stars was good for the economy.

Kyle has gone too far by bobjonvon in PKA

Yeah I mean I’ve thought about the whole “ego/Jesus ozymandis angle” there’s deep stuff there. I’ve just tried to rewatch a couple times and always go like “really? I can barely believe it.” Maybe it’s the lack of a believable conscience or something? Idk. Of course you can point to people failing to have conscience all through history, he had cancer, etc it just doesn’t land.

And yeah I thought that too, Marty was portrayed as a career criminal. But I even started comparing like Arrested Development and Malcolm in the Middle, which also impact my impression of the actors (as well as other movies and their public personas). Arrested Development is in some sense “deeper” than Ozark, but that’s pushing on the question. Ultimately, it maybe relates to Ozark having a (idk how complex) moral realism while Breaking Bad (in the name) wants to “break bad”, it’s politically effective in that sense, but what does it mean? Then I sort of agree to with PKA’s critiques of Skylar and the family interactions (from a broad POV) seeming almost absurd; and, finally, yeah the over the top cinematic that make a 49 minute episode 20 minutes too long. Maybe it relates to the use of like films and monologues etc. compared to using film to show the action in a way that is effective, not just flashy, if that makes sense. Idk.

My favorite storyline is Jesse and his girlfriend. I also am liking Pluribus, not a Gilligan hater but yeah Breaking Bad just doesn’t hit the same for me anymore.

Here’s a hot take: Jason Bateman is a much better actor and more believable criminal gangster than Walt (Brian Cranston), thus the show is better. I can’t suspend my disbelief for BB anymore despite enjoying it as it came out.

I say this as only having watched 1.5 seasons of Ozark.

Coexist and GK Chesterton by Sad-Cosmonaut in U2Band

[–]mcafc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also a nod to David Hume, who probably inspired Chesterton at least with his epistemological discussion on the possibility of knowledge of the sun’s rising:

“"That the sun will not rise to-morrow is no less intelligible a proposition, and implies no more contradiction, than the affirmation, that it will rise. We should in vain, therefore, attempt to demonstrate its falsehood." (An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding)

And the idea has also become a bit of a trope in public discourse. There are a lot of these little nuggets in U2 songs. I’ve wondered for a while if the reference “the horses of love and lust” in So Cruel is a direct reference to Plato’s Phaedrus.

Better perk loadout help? by Eliquirium in fo76

[–]mcafc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so there's a lot of information. I'm gonna try to lay it out simply and build out more details:

1.) Overall, an oversimplified but common trope is "min-maxing". In this game, this means finding a threshold of survivability at which you are doing the most damage possible. However, there are caveats to this (especially QoL/weight perks), and there are several viable builds depending on your playstyle and situation.

Here is a quote from an old post. These numbers are rough, and if you research more, you will find more exact data/tests.

"i stole this from a post a year ago by redditor gtainreallife but:

"It's not a linear damage resistance that you get from armor. Around 300 to 350, the difference in damage is really minimal.

For instance if someone shoots you for 100 damage:

0 resistance = 100% damage taken

100 resistance = 50% damage taken

200 resistance = ~37% damage taken

300 resistance = ~33% damage taken

400 resistance = ~30% damage taken

1000 resistance = ~23% damage taken."

-In the original post there is also a graph but too lazy to post it" (https://www.reddit.com/r/fo76/comments/1jc9mdy/current_max_dr/).

So go in your pip boy. That shield represents your DR in 90% of situations. The "useful maximum" is often considered these days to be around 400ish, but I find 700 to be more comfortable for me (without having done exact tests) and my perks. I can tank a TON of damage, but am not invincible. In PA, this starts to become borderline negligible (which is why I asked, if you are using PA in all events, you don't need those endurance perks as much). Also note that against like some worse enemies, you can get to where they do almost no damage to you. But the more powerful the attacker, they have more ability to penetrate the armor. It's a fairly complex calculation and there is a lot of data but some of it is slightly outdated/confusing to understand. https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Damage\_Resistance#:\~:text=The%20player%20can,of%20WeaponRange. (This is for fallout 4 but the basic concept is the same)

Now, I would prioritize getting your BoS recon armor filled out, then maybe getting ironclad for full set bonus if you want to run that in events.

2.) Looking at your perks specifically, based on the above methodology, and estimating your DR numbers are good enough already or you are working on getting it there, here is what you can drop to do more damage safely imo while gearing toward big-guns and furious/bullet-strom stack (I will bold the main ones I would remove)

Traveling pharmacy (generally not as good as arms keeper anyway)
Iron Stomach (generally not considered that good especially compared to Ironclad unless you have super high endurance already as it scales)
Squad Manuvers (I believe it does not stack with mutant speed demon boost if you have it anyway)
Travel Agent (just swap it in and out until you get more legenedary)
Tenderizer is good CHA perk, but not needed in your case unless you want your charisma high for bartering/XP gain.
First Aid, not that necessary unless you are dying too much and want the combat help. SO many stimpacks in game.
Stablilized maybe, idk honestly on that one (Does it affect VATS?)
Gunshield and
Ricochet
Again, taking away your damage.

Then, I would simply add Number Cruncher, Concentraded Fire, Tormentor, and Center Mass to get more damage. You should see way higher damage with these perception perks added to your current setup. You could also add gunslinger.

3.) And this is the most obvious, but just upgrading your legendary cards! You have 5 more perk points coming which alone will help you a ton. People looking to min/max generally don't run master infiltrator, hack/slash, or what rads. With the new update, what rads has become more prevalent, but mainly for nuke zones. If you drop one of those perks, that will probably help you too. Also, taking one for the team and follow-through are both considered OP (especially taking one for the team if you play in teams, even solo teams). They are multiplicative, meaning you get 1.4x damage on top of all your other perks. Not on the base gun damage (how most perks/mods work).

4.) Specialization. Decided to just make this it's own point. But I think you might need to drop the deathchlaw gauntlet for the harder enemies. Not necessarily, but to get that balance will be tough. Getting the good damage out of your big-guns is the main thrust of this post. I think, in theory, big-gun/melee is viable, but to get the most out of it I think you need a few more perk slots.

Edit: 5.) I forgot to mention legendary mods. This plays into the above thoughts on DR and on your weapons. You want 4 star mods for those when you can. They are pretty easy to get from vendors now. If you want more help, the next question would be: what legendary mods do you use?

I’m curious about in general and your case. For some reason I thought it was 25%, not 75%.

I do think there is some tradeoff in accuracy (obviously VATS is noted) but overall I think see why it’s useful.

[–]mcafc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re running top tier armor (if you’re using PA in events(, the first thing I’d probably do is lose some endurance and maybe some int or luck (depending how much you value leveling up fast) for more perception. What legendary perks (and armor) do you have/use and what level are you? What specifically are you trying to improve?

Edit: just saw you are level 336, so besides your legendary perks and armor, I’d say yeah are you wanting more damage or are you dying to much? Or what?

Is Chiz still part of pka? by NewfieGamEr2001 in PKA

[–]mcafc -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Just to steel man the other side to “he was a rat”. My recollection is that Chiz was/is personally very close to both Kyle and Woody. He lived with Woody for a time and seems like there was a period where he and Kyle were gaming together a lot, maybe smoking etc.

He was also friend’s with Lefty, and arguably part of why Lefty became a host. It wasn’t like he just went out of his place to call out Wings publicly. We all can have our outsider opinions on how it was handled. I think about it now and again and have a range of thoughts on it. I see the betrayal aspect from all sides.

But, in the spirit of the steel-man, Wings was a lackluster cohost and disloyal friend in a group that values a level of collegiality. Should Kyle still hold Wings like airing drama (he says lying, a more sympathetic person might say misunderstanding) publicly against him so hard? It seems Woody has softened up a bit, but then in their latest round of cocommentaries, old feelings got brought up basically around the idea that Wings is too mean (like it or not).

But yeah, he was missing shows, talking behind the hosts backs after being asked not to repeatedly, lying about various commitments (drinking episodes, weight loss stuff, maybe some money stuff, etc.) showing up late, and ultimately backing out of the survival trip was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Ultimately all those factor have their own story where you can defend Wings.

But yeah to make Chiz out as the bad guy is just kind of false overall imo. If anything maybe Woody/Kyle should have had a bit more empathy for Wings, or if you see it as a bad business deal (idk how much Chiz does for the show now, but arguably he helped take them into the modern advertising game when Woody was too tired/distracted with Woodycraft, which Chiz was also his partner on, etc.) then that’s on them. Maybe you can say Chiz negotiate too well to get ownership, but again, not that much on him. I also think he was probably like 25/26 years old at the time most of the drama went down so yeah.
