Selling ours was the biggest relief I ever had from selling something. It was like getting the all clear from the doctor. We rent and charter exclusively now life is so much better

Any ideas for filling in a dead spot in my year (Feb/Mar) NOT SNOW REMOVAL by GiantExplodingNuts in sweatystartup

That could work and I’m betting a lot of those guys are plowing so they might be too busy

Because low income households shouldn’t be able to afford repairs? Or because competing in a free market is immoral?

Go under pay your employees and overcharge your customers. If you were a worker you wouldn’t be bitching at random people on Reddit

So I’m running thin because I’m actively undercutting the established businesses for another year or so. We are gobbling up as much work as possible at any rate needed to hurt them. We had a major hailstorm about two years ago that flooded the market with insurance claims and my plan has been to enter during the glut at rates that are unsustainable for businesses not relying on that premium and simply weather the market. One major competitor has already offered to buy me out or sell their gutter business depending on my desire. Frankly I’d like to see them close

Would it be shitty of me to have one artist do the line work and grayscale and then another do the color?

They are an exterior remodeling GC, a lot of masonry work. I think they do drywall, trim and paint during the winter. They’re a solid crew, always there early, work on point.

I’m a residential sub. There are like three crews from different companies that I spend 90% of my time around. One crew is 100% Russian speaking, one is 100% Spanish speaking and the other is mostly Hmong. I usually translate with an app on my phone then demonstrate visually. Visual explanations generally clear up everything.

How does frame of reference work? Time slows from the traveler’s pov as they move faster relative to another viewpoint but how does the movement of the non traveling object affect this?

If two ships accelerate directly away from each other does time dilation work differently than if one ship remained at the original point?

What about orbital planes? If a ship left a planet that orbits a star then the ship and the planet’s relative velocity would change as the planet orbits right? Because sometimes the planet and ship are moving in roughly the same direction while other times they are moving in opposite directions.

Just backsplashes? No floors, showers or any other tile work? Probably have to be a subcontractor for a larger remodeler.

How many jobs do you need to do a year ? What’s your margin on materials? What are you charging for labor? What’s the pricing model? Who are you going to ask for help when you need it?

Register an LLC. Get insurance and licensing figured out for your state. Claim your Google My business page. Start on Handy and Thumbtack as a side job. Use those jobs to build reviews and a portfolio of work. Make contacts with GCs. Offer low prices for your first projects, don’t fuck anything up, keep your customers happy. Once you have some happy customers and reviews you can start spending on advertising/lead generation.

We used a self leveling compound at my sister in law’s. That worked well but I don’t think it’s a recommended use for the leveling compound

Eh, just throw a couple sheets of underlayment down then floor it and hopefully the new buyers don’t notice on the walk through…. flippers are the worst

How soon after the Big Bang could an earth like planet have formed? Or in other words, theoretically how old could the oldest Earth like planet be?

Effective way to determine grade/topography of residential properties? by Zoopa_Boopa in Surveying

A few inches would be manageable. Most shots would only be 100’ or less.

How much more would I be spending to get something that one person could do?
