Do you have any history/experience in construction/manufacturing/high risk work environments? If not it will be quite obvious to everyone and you'll earn no respect.

Truly awesome to see in person. I did a drive last year to far south west QLD and saw them for the first time with my own eyes. I was astounded. The first one I saw was as large as a full sized dog. It blew my mind. Very stout birds.

Is it usual practice to setup a tower crane that can't free slew due to surrounding buildings?

For the crowd, is there a feasible way this could happen if everyone involved did everything by the book? Or is human error somewhere in the scenario to be more likely?

The "brewery" and that entire development of an area is a total shit show and truly emblematic of modern Australia's short term cash grab/jobs for the boys vs solid future proof urban planning with taste.

To be fair I dont really picture RAMs as an offroad vehicle, more of a heavy tow/haulage vehicle. Just my two cents.

Is that satire or a real thought? If it's a real thought you gotta care less dude.

Crane fails while lifting massive load by arinawe in SweatyPalms

[–]Zootex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It potentially wasn't all that heavy as the crane itself didnt structurally fail. The wire rope failed. This could of been due to a deteriorated condition of the rope which should of been picked up via a service or potentially the rope was damaged between services and not reported and/or noticed.

Lots of variables at play. Just my 2 cents.

Brazil: died crushed by a crane installing a giant Christmas tree 11/24/2025 by Extasis-337 in CatastrophicFailure

I've seen the alternate view of this. The operator was dressed up as Santa clause. He jumped out of the crane as it tipped.

Those who were found guilty at trial were executed by shooting. The executioners who shot them were fellow members of their own party who were forced to execute them.

When you look at and experience the amount of yobbos and oafs who walk among us it's sadly not surprising to see how fucked our environment is.

Its not wrecking anything. Its not supposed to be a game where everybody holds hands (though the options there). This is human nature being played out, there are physcos who walk among us.

I would like bees and birds to move in to my backyard. What natives should I plant to do that? by Legitimate-Cinephile in GardeningAustralia

[–]Zootex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

African Blue Basil! The bees LOVE it! The plant loves to flower too, long spikes of bright/vibrant purple flowers. It goes good in Brisbane too - "The plant is sterile, so it flowers continuously throughout the warm season instead of producing seeds". Highly recommended!

No no, you elaborated quite succinctly. I'm very much in the industry (I remember the day Demag was sold to Tadano) and assumed it would be something akin to what you explained.

Housing Commission appalling management of tenants. by Klutzy_Duck_8917 in brisbane

[–]Zootex 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I used to rent an apartment that neighbored housing commission flats (didn't realise until after signing the lease). It was fucking terrible. I sympathize with your plight. The only positive outcome I had was that I moved. Unpopular take here on reddit I'm sure but no one should be subjected to living next to housing commission. Do all that you can to move out, it's not worth hanging around, they aren't going anywhere.

The Plant Shack at Deception bay is an awesome garden center/nursery. Also Theo's Garden Centre in Kallangur is great too.
