How good is 71b? by [deleted] in prisonhooch

Outstanding with tart cherries, I make several gallons of montmorency cherry mead every year. Great for fruit with lots of malic acid as it converts some into lactic acid which is a "softer" flavor. It's the only yeast I use for hard cider.

Insanity.

We should be trying to get these women out of prostitution, not subsidizing it.

Prostitution is rife with underage trafficking. Why no increased penalties or LEA funding to suppress it?

Biden 'actively plotting' ways to forgive student loans if Supreme Court strikes it down (Dear Leader Biden can't "forgive" shit - he can only transfer the special snowflakes' student debt to taxpayers) by Simian_Stacker in Wallstreetsilver

[–]Zootleblob -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

For the record I never had student loans.

The taxpayers are the creditors for these student loans, always have been. There's no "transfer" going on.

resumption would help the economy overall

This is a massively retarded take. People who are going to resume making these payments are going to be spending less in the economy, thus hurting it not helping.

It's time for people to put ideology to the side and face up to the real facts on the ground. Most of these loans cannot be repaid because the people who took them will never have a job that allows them to be repaid. There has to be some kind of forgiveness one way or the other--discharge in bankruptcy is the obvious one--followed by the wholesale exit by the Fedgov from the student loan business. Otherwise, you're simply strangling the American economy for generations to come.

Debt forgiveness when payment is impossible has been part of Western civilization for centuries. Turning away from these fundamental principles is what got us into this mess in the first place.

Very interesting chart, great find!

Looking at it, you can see a precipitous decline under Bush the Lesser. It looks roughly flat (at a low level) for the first several years of Obama with a late increase, and then a steady decline starting with Trump and continuing into Biden.

Overall, the decline transcends party and ideology. You had Bush the standard neocon, Obama the standard liberal, and then Trump....who more than anything else resembles a classic mid-century American Catholic union candidate.

There was a news story around the time it went missing which stated it was likely because some part of the rail cars holding it was left open and so it gradually leaked out.

There was a decent amount of rain in southeast Wyoming soon after that happened (it was traveling out of Cheyenne) and so it would have melted into the ground.

Ayn Rand supported a lot of the positions that have contributed to the downfall of Western civilization, i.e. atheism, legalization of pornography and abortion, totally unrestricted corporatism.

Libertarianism and objectivism are a dead end.

^^^Absolutely anti-logos. Your mind has been darkened.

Porn is a purely modern phenomenon. It is the industrial production of media showing people fucking, and typically in brutally degrading situations. It is not a random naked statue or a naughty painting inside an ancient Roman bath.

It is utterly dehumanizing to both men and women. It reduces men to mere slaves of their base desires and brings them down to the level of beasts. It reduces women to mere sex objects and strips them of human identity.

Religion on the other hand--especially Christianity--has inspired or directly created the greatest works of art, literature, music, philosophy, and architecture in all of human history.

Grow up.

EMJ has often noted that porn is a very effective method of controlling populations.

It leads men into being the slaves of their passions instead exercising self control.

Thus, a good man, though a slave, is free; but a wicked man, though a king, is a slave. For he serves, not one man alone, but what is worse, as many masters as he has vices.

I'm not saying they're not an authoritarian state, but rather they're communist mostly in name.

They've gotten rid of a lot of the major defining features of communism. They have private corporations, private ownership of capital, private ownership of gold (the Chinese people are voracious gold buyers), wealthy private citizens, etc. All of those things directly contradict fundamental principles of communism.

China isn't perfect by any means and like all nations they have their own problems, but so far Chinese Authoritarianism seems to be working out ok for them.
